Audio Plug Ins for your PC

Do these really enhance the sound thru your computer. I have noticed a DFX and an SRS plug in and they sound like they may give a positive boost to your PC sound.. Any info?

 

My player WinDVD has a few of these, but I never use any of them. I always go with the same philosophy I use when playing music in my 'big' rig: I try to have the music go the most direct path in order to hear it as clean and clearly as possible. I find that all these DSP effects 'blur' the music, for lack of a better word, while doing their stuff.
