audio technical carts suddenly giving garballed sound.

I have a akai 260 turntable I added an at 120e 3 months ago, sounded very good,

Last week I changed the pre amp to Emotiva usp-1, akai played good. All of sudden the playback became garballed, I took the cart off added an at- 92 same sound.

Put on my old shure white table cart, sound is back to normal?.

What would cause the audio Technics's to sound so bad any help or guesses welcome.
