Great thread! I love Badfinger, always have (I'm 49). Was lucky enough to hear them in the early 70s, as a wee child, courtesy of my Aunt Linda, who mostly liked Cher, Bread (the band and the food, probably) etc, so the hit making factor wasn't lost on me from the get-go. I think it was Linda's LP copy of Magic Christian Music I stole from her first , then her copy of Straight Up eventually..all before age 12. She didn't have No Dice, and I didn't end up even hearing that one till I bought a reissue cassette in the early 90s. (Pete Ham's "We're For The Dark" blew my Pavement-lovin' mind) I did, however, find a cut-out of the 1974 self titled LP at a lower Michigan retail outlet sometime by 1980-81 and I'll always thank the heavens- it remains a favorite, I'd listened to that album hundreds of times by the mid 80s.
Straight Up is now a constant on my 'Ten Desert Island Albums' list. And I love No Dice, Ass, Badfinger, Wish You Were Here, etc. nearly the same. These guys had the magic. And yes, I put on Straight Up the other morning.
correction: There were several artists/groups that contributed to Apple Records family either a sole LP or 45 Single!
