I'm a fan of two Norwegian bands: Di Derre and I Was a King.

I recently learnt that the main lyricist of Di Derre is actually a well-known Norwegian writer and novelist, his name is Jo Nesbø.

The other, I Was a King, is a new band, they currently are Robyn Hitchcock's backing band when he visits the country and have recorded music together.

Unfortunately none of these albums are available in North America!

Anybody is a fan of other Norwegian bands?

I like some of Razika's songs. An all-girl band playing catchy, melodic guitar pop with occasional and tasteful hints of ska.

My top 2 albums from 2009 came from Norway.

Every Floyd fan should buy this CD. It's melodic prog with a dark twist. I listened to the whole album again trying to decide what song to post. Most of the album if DSOTM mellow, and I've posted other songs on other threads. This is one my favorite albums since being introduced to Porcupine Tree in 2005. The whole album is posted on YouTube if you want to get a taste of the rest of the album. I really wanted to post Steal My Soul as the guitar work is nothing short of beautiful. But so is Colours and Sounds that I Hear and...

De Press are classic post punk. From 1982. Check it out if you like Joy Division and the sorts.

Ulver. They're amazing. Absolutely amazing. Fom black metal to electronica and ambient, they've been very eclectic and refuse to be pigeonholed.

Enslaved. Fantastic progressive black metal. Epic riffs.

Darkthrone. Seminal and vastly influential black metal band.

The other album, one of the few I describe as brilliant. Gazpacho's Tick Tock album still blows me away!

I might note, I'm from Midwest America. I found these guys through The Pineapple Thief forum.

Sorry about how the video ends as it runs into Part II of a three part song. But this song does give you a taste of this fantastic Norwegian band.

Seigmen, quite big in the nineties (at least in Norway).
