yes consider another band who could cut some as good as

    Let it Be
    Long & Winding Road
    Across the Universe
    Get Back
    I got a Feeling

shockingly weak......but only if you are the Beatles

Dire Straits, Creedence and The Police are all that I can think of.

There is one pretty obvious choice when it comes to Creedence...

Soundgarden (this band invented "modern rock")
    Hendrix
Beatles (Yellow Submarine was a soundtrack so I view it differently)
    Cream
    Shadows Of Knight
    Discordance Axis
    Grief
Opeth (have shifted styles but always good regardless)
Poison Idea (35 years of great stuff)
Killing Joke (Outside The Gate was intended to be their vocalist's solo album, they even took legal action against their label to not have it included in their discography)
Husker Du (some albums were less amazing, but never bad)
Incantation (long running death metal band that never did a band album)
Blackfoot (their last album from '83 was not really the band Blackfoot and was a contractual obligation)
    Mercyful Fate
    Gillan
Bow Wow (at least the albums I've heard so far)
    the Dictators
    the Stooges
Free (never did a bad one)
    MC5
Status Quo (same t shirt and jeans boogie rock always)
    the Cramps

    All good:

Beatles - I don't count Yellow Submarine. Let It Be is still very strong.
Police - Ghost in the Machine pushes the limits, but all are solid.
    Zeppelin - Coda doesn't count
    Hendrix

    These come very close:

XTC (Nonsuch is good but bloated and not up to the usual standard.)
Dire Straits (On Every Street nowhere near as good as others.)

Other than that, I think every band either starts out weak (Radiohead, Nirvana, Genesis), has a lull, (Yes) or (in most cases) has decades of weaker albums in the latter part of their careers. (The Who, U2, Pink Floyd, Van Morrison, Rush, Stones, Santana, Beach Boys, Van Halen, Fleetwood Mac, Queen.... )

  14. Those of you who cited The Stooges are aware that they made two lame post-comeback albums in this millennium, right?

I would include Camper Van Beethoven, but then they got back together in the 2000s.

They had only 3 albums, but Mercy Rule consistently recorded great stuff.

Many would say the band Mr. Bungle didn't have a weak album, but I don't care for their last one just from a stylistic perspective.

You could say that if "Bollocks" was their only album, but technically it wasn't. "Some Product" anyone?

  20. I don't think many qualify, maybe only those bands or artists who make two or three albums. Anyone with a recording career of any longevity is bound to do something 'weaker' in comparison to their better records.

    The New Pornographers
The Go Betweens (yes I do like Send me a Lullaby too)
Okkervil River (although I am Very Far is very slightly below par perhaps)

lol @ Beatle fans thinking their first two albums and Beatles For Sale aren't weak

Let It Be is arguably weak, too.

The Stones made no weak albums until Emotional Rescue in 1980

I disagree. What is funny is their pretending "Yellow Submarine" isn't an album of theirs
