Basil Gogos RIP

Legendary illustrator Basil Gogos has passed away. R.I.P. Legendary Monster Artist Basil Gogos - Bloody Disgusting

Those old Famous Monsters magazine covers were amazing. (Age only 68, can that be right?)

 

He was 78. Yep, I loved his Famous Monsters Of Filmland covers.

 

Hate to hear this.

He did beautiful work. I'm surprised he wasn't older because I remember first seeing his work in the 60's.

 

Another great loss.

 

His age is now reported to be 88 per someone on the classic horror board that looked up public records. He was an incredibly talented artist who never got mainstream recognition but likely had more dedicated fans and admirers that most mainstream artists ever dare dream of having.

His monster paintings are so good that I wouldn't mind having high quality prints hanging in my home.

 

Breaks my heart.
At least he can hang out with Jack Davis and Bernie Wrightson again.
Heaven will be getting some great monster comics now.

 

Wow. I loved those paintings so much when I was a kid. He was truly great at what he did.

 

I thought Basil was 68.

 

Loved that The Misfits were using his work on the covers of some of their later albums. RIP.
