Beyoncé. Rihanna got off to a bad start with me -- I hated that song "Umbrella."

First one I heard. I'm not all that up on today's music.

I understand. Many older music lovers are just not into modern Pop. Are you a fan of Beyonce's work?

Not really, though I do like what I've heard. Just don't ask me for the song names.

  8. I seem to recall there was a South Park episode that spoke to making a choice between two options like this.

No respect for Beyonce "the thief" Knowles.

    So it's, Rihanna by default.

Why do you refer to her as a "thief"? I've heard that thrown around quite a number of times but I don't know the backstory to the nickname.

I have to agree. It's not their voices at all, it the weak material...IMHO.

Are you judging that off of a single (or two) or have you checked out complete bodies of work?:)

Sorry, I just thought it was the normal forum protocol to leave a comment like that! No hurt intended. :)

I guess considering i've heard more of her songs i'll go with Beyonce, if mainly just for Crazy In Love which is very catchy indeed.

Beyonce tries to pass stolen material off as her own.

As an example, I imagine it's pretty bad karma to recycle a song [2009's Already Gone by Kelly Clarkson] that wasn't even released yet. Yikes!!!
It sure made Clarkson look suspicious of writing a rip-off and then having to explain in the press when RCA released it several months later. Not cool.
The good news for the innocent party [Clarkson], "Already Gone" did as well if not better than "Halo" on the charts, and with radio exposure over the long haul.

To be honest I've only heard 8 songs by Beyonce and she's the biggest star of my generation.
As for Rihanna, I've heard every song listed above. I don't recall where I heard them first but I'm very familiar with all of them.
Her music is very playful and catchy. :)

That's cool, i'm only 20 myself although I guess I probably come across as a lot older on this forum sometimes! The Columbo avatar doesn't help with that much!

Beyonce in a slam dunk! She's an all around better singer, dancer, entertainer. Plus she's seems like she has a lot less attitude than Rihanna. I saw an interview with her on Fuse or Palladia & she came off really arrogant & I wasn't a hater of hers but came away disappointed.

I'll take Rihanna any time. Beyonce's singing style annoys me to no end. I have heard her sing in a different style on TV and like what I heard. But her recordings (save "Crazy In Love") irritate me.

I'm just so used to everyone being over the age of 30 on this message board. (Nothing wrong with that.)
Who turned you onto the classic stuff? :)

Beyonce doesn't seem as snobbish as people make her out to be. One thing I have noticed from many of her interviews is she has a tough time articulating herself and formulating sentences.
She's too successful to be speaking like a middle school student. She's one hell of a performer and singer so I guess that makes up for it.

    Example...
