Battle of the Sexes (2017 film)

The trailer I saw today has me really looking forward to seeing this, about the Billie Jean King-Bobby Riggs match:



It opens in September.

 

I saw this today and enjoyed it. Funny thing is, the movie's "villain" isn't Bobby Riggs, who's just an affable buffoon, but rather tennis legend Jack Kramer (Bill Pullman), who's portrayed as a horrible sexist pig. I was too young when the match occurred to know how accurate a portrayal that is, though.

 

Emma Stone's always good to watch.

They played pretty loose with many of the facts. Kramer never headed the USLTA. King's lover was her secretary, not a hairdresser. What happened to Gene Scott, who replaced Kramer on the telecast? It was interesting but to those of us in the know, there was nothing we didn't already know about.
