Well, the firsthand review above seemed to indicate the stereo placement isn't drastically different than before, so it sounds like any demixing was selectively applied rather than used wholesale across entire songs. So hopefully it'll be fairly transparent.

It's amazing how many conspiracies are involved with this release! Who was to know?

I have nostalgia for the original artwork. Leave it to Mazzy to always bring the rain clouds around.

I never understood including the 2-track tape of Beatles VI featuring a photo from 1967.

I'm now obsessing over the 70's inner sleeve. Those girls look like Bay City Rollers fans than Beatles fans, in their 70's fashions and hairstyles. Long live the 70's! They should do a 2016 inner sleeve for the new LP.

I like the cover. It's commercial - they are trying to sell these things and the movie.

I think the sunglassed Beatles looking in different directions seems to be a metaphor to me about how they were calm and cool in the center of the hurricane.

    My pleasure.

I believe they really remixed this from the 3 track tapes.
Content-wise it seemed to be the same as the original LP to me (excluding the "bonus" tracks).
(But I can't be 100% sure, as it's just a one time listening without any pause or repeat.)
I think the sound of this new version could not be created from the already mixed (with echo and all) tapes.

    Thank you!

They did not show us the actual product. They gave us a flier but it showed only the front cover photo of the CD.
Probably it's not been sent to them yet.

I had a dream last night that I was on page 60 of this thread, stopped reading it for an hour and then logged in and the thread was up to 225 pages!

Needless to say I'm on here too much at work and I'm excited for this release!

Edit: I'd never heard of those Playtapes before today, but they're pretty fascinating for sure. They're almost like a mid-60's version of something millennial's like me remember very well: HitClips!

Hitclips may be the only format a Beatles record never came out on… but man, Ricky Martin never sounded so good.

    Introduction by John: Same
Performance: Same "edit" of two performances
(Though it is credited as from Aug 29, I believe this is the edit of two performances.
At least the opening verse is from 30th.)

We have a 3 track headblock with a Flux/Plangent head for our ATR104.

Have done nothing Beatles related but goofing around with the Ed Sullivan Show DVD I found enough video sync to do a pretty nice job defluttering She Loves You and All My Loving. Vast improvement. Nobody has heard it. I've never been able to crack the code. I offer a great favor in return for an introduction to Giles.

Apparently, according to Wikipeadia, the 2-track playtapes were not even introduced until 1966.

Indeed duophonic was a good idea.

However, on this occasion we have existing stereo mixes that are IMHO entirely adequate. I do not see any need for futzing.

After hearing that Little Eva clip "demixed" I probably should stay as far away from this thread as I did with the Beatles remixed thread. If thats an example of what the Hollywood Bowl redo is going to be like, then its not for me. It only reassures me that the Beatles, as far as audio, are being handled in radical manner by someone who I dont think serves the catalogue well. Im sure he is a nice guy and all. Im sure he cares to do the best job possible. But imo he has went left field with the remixind/demixing process.

    Thanks for the details.

It will be strange though to have the new CD end with a waltz: "Baby's In Black".

It doesn't seem as if the demixing on HB has been done to separate tracks into stereo though (like it was on the Little Eva track), that's quite a big difference, IMO.
