Beatles Stereo or Mono Box Set?

The majority of people who own this, probably own counterfeits. After the 1st pressing sold out, there was a huge rush to get these.

The counterfeits started appearing withing a week or so. The second pressing took a bit longer to get out there and at a higher price than the counterfeits

People are still buying counterfeits because of price.

If there weren't any counterfeits, this set would probably have been out of print years ago.

 

does Amazon sell pirate copies?

 

Just spoke with Acoustic Sounds, mine should leave the warehouse today!

Market sellers probably do.

My point being, people bought up the counterfeits after the first pressing sold out, leaving retailers and warehouses loaded up with the second pressing.

All those initial sales lost to the counterfeits left a huge overstock of originals today.

I just got my shipping notice for The Beatles in Mono Vinyl Box from Acoustic Sounds $303 delivered.

 

Mine was a bit more than that, Shipping was $120 something US dollars.

 

It's been 9 days since I ordered the vinyl mono box from Amazon UK and still no shipping. Very strange. The thing is in stock now and it was back then.

 

9 Days, I mean have you checked the orders status? My Stereo box was at my house within 5 days of placing the order and I went for the cheapest and slowest shipping method. It actually arrived 4 or 5 days early. Could be time to contact someone about it.

 

I did. Someone at Amazon (a carrier specialist) told me last Sunday that it would be "dispatched soon". I'm an Amazon customer for years and they never did that.

 

You need both. If I could only have one complete set, I would buy the mono box and the individual CDs for Abbey Road and Let It Be.

I have the Mono vinyl box set. I have to say I was a little worried about buying the mono set as I’m so used to stereo, but when I first played the Mono copy of Please, Please Me and I Saw Her Standing There came on, I nearly peed myself in delight. It’s sounds amazing. I’ve topped up my collection with stereo D’agostini versions of Abbey Road and Let It Be along with the Anthologies, BBC albums and Love. AR and LIB fit in the Mono box, which is handy.

 

Did you already have the individual issues? I have them all and I got the box “just because” I would be upset if I didn’t grab one and it goes out of print. I didn’t really need it.

 

Originally I thought I'd only get the Stereo box since I only had a few of the Stereo records and I wanted the book but after getting the stereo I thought, "Well now I have to get the mono box". I only really got them because I was worried about not being able to find one in the future if I put it off. I've got most of them individually even though Magical Mystery Tour came with a book that was falling out. I was considering leaving it until the end of the month or even next month but I came into some extra work so I just went and placed the order.

 

I bought all of the mono titles individually over the past few months, but the other weekend after a few drinks and reading this thread I ended up buying the box set from Acoustic Sounds. I didn't want to miss out and thought it would be a great collectable/back-up set. Anyway, it was delivered today!
The box weighs a tonne (well, around 10kg), and I'm very impressed with the delivery packaging - very sturdy and well protected (it's a long way to Australia). The box set is of course fantastic, I've checked all records and sleeves and all are perfectly in tact, and I've opened and skimmed through the book and look forward to reading it properly alongside listening to the records. Great stuff! The Kinks in Mono next?..
