Same here. It's one of the main reasons why I love their first album so much.

When I was a kid my brother and 2 friends were going to start a band. We were going to be called The Miserys (or Mizerys). Nothing came of it but the first song we learned was Misery.

In the days of cassettes, I created a fictional 1966 album with the John and George Revolver songs, to which I added other hard-edged tracks from that period, including Paperback Writer, Rain, Day Tripper, Drive My Car, Think for Yourself, and The Word. It was great, better IMO than anything they ever released.

On the other side of the cassette, I created a dark 1968-69 album, sort of the Beatles' version of There's a Riot Goin' On. It had choice White Album tracks, Come Together, She's So Heavy, Cold Turkey, and maybe one or two others I can't remember now.

LOVE this post and I wish I could reappear every time somebody attacks the Beatles stereo mixes.

I like Misery. One of the 8 originals from the first album. When asked by Playboy who wrote what, in Misery. Lennon said he hadn't any recollection. *"But then Lennon said" with a title like Misery it must've been him or sounded like his style.

As to a Faux "2nd studio LP" falling between Please Please Me/With The Beatles. Similar to Capitol in the USA & Canada.. readily available are

    1. From Me To You
    2. Thank You Girl
    3. One After 909
    4. How Do You Do It
    5. She Loves You
    6. I'll Get You
    7. I wanna Hold You're Hand
    8. This Boy
    9. German-She Loves You
    10 German IWTHYH

I think technically that's it, prior to With The Beatles, so demos, BBC or something else would have to be used to expand beyond 10 tracks, but it's very close to legit album length using nothing but non LP tracks from WTB or before. But after Ringo joined.

There is an entire other albums worth of Pete Best tracks, the Decca audition can be easily improved, subbing in the 2 Bert Kaempfert tracks & 2 early EMI sessions

Anyone ever think about making a Beatles album with the early solo songs?

Somewhere on this forum there exists a thread started by yours truly that covers this exact proposition; that there is an album in between the Decca audition (their first true album) and Please Please Me (which then becomes their third). It consists of various BBC tracks and the best numbers from their live Hamburg shows.
    Oops! here it is...
Decca WAS the 1st. Put together a TRUE Beatles 2nd album.

I think I will create a compilation of all of the songs that went to number 2 on the charts, kept from being number 1 on the charts by a Beatles release.

Or I will just long for the relief that my death will bring me.

Remind me, which of the "SUPERIOR CAPITOL" masterpieces you enjoyed 'Misery' on in the 60s?

Don't forget all of the Beatles songs that did NOT make it onto a U.K. album until Past Masters.

    Lots of them.

The Beatles, America, Beatlemania, and Capitol Records.

You can fight history, but you can't change it.

How about a double-down version of Capitol's Rubber Soul?

    1--I've just seen a face
    2--norweigan wood
    3--you won't see me
    4--the word
    5--you like me too much

    6--it's only love
    7--i'm looking through you
    8--tell me what you see
    9--wait
    10--run for your life

four tracks removed, substituted w/ two more tracks from Help --even better!

Not Capitol, but at least a few hundred thousand of us knew it from "Introducing the Beatles". :)

Name any two of the Beatles songs that did NOT make it onto a U.K. album until Past Masters.
    Just two.
Still waiting for you to name just TWO of these 'lots'.

I'll give you a little clue- there are not even two songs, there is one. Just one!

Everything else was on a UK LP by 1978, 10 years before Past Masters.

Meanwhile Capitol had yet to release You Know My Name, Misery, Sie Liebt Dich, The Inner Light, There's a Place, the original Across the Universe and the Ringo version of Love Me Do, on an album. That's 7, count 'em SEVEN tracks NOT ON CAPITOL ALBUMS at a time when only ONE was missing from Parlophone albums.
Er...these are all words I know but they're not in a sentence.
    Yet you keep trying to.

No-one's trying to take your Capitol albums off you. You can keep them, look at them, play them all you want.

It's very very simple. How could it be a favourite song? It's not on a Capitol album.

“Better than anything they ever released”?
But didn’t they release those songs??

    Read between the lines, Michael!
He’s making a point about your ceaseless love for the Capitol versions- “Misery” was never on the original Capitol LPs....

There are a whopping 13 [sic- 20] tracks that were never on a Capitol LP in the 1960s. Enough for another album.

    Really?
    Misery
    There’s A Place
Sie Liebt Dich (which doesn’t count as far as I’m concerned! “Komm...” shouldn’t have either!)
    I’m Down
    Inner Light

What else, besides what turned up on Hey Jude which is a part of the original Capitol canon.

    You Know My Name
    A Hard Day's Night
    From Me To You
    Ringo single Love Me Do
    Across the Universe (Wildlife version)

and the Hey Jude album was compiled by ABKCO for Apple, not Capitol, in 1970, so I am including all those songs. (I said 13, but it's actually 20! But even counting Hey Jude LP as one album, they could have had a second.)
