I heard Giles is working on that one, but will be as the mono mix, cause that's the only way to hear the white album! HAHA! Duophonic mono!

I prefer the stereo version because for some reason with the mono version it sounds like the same exact thing coming out of both speakers .

Stereo. From MMT onward, mono doesn't cut it for me with the Beatles. The White mono especially sounds odd to my ears.

Grew up in the 60s with stereo which is my preference.

But the monoraul has some very cool differences obviously lacking in the stereo.

    I like them both actually.

I've always found that the louder, rockier songs sounded better to me in mono while the quieter, more acoustic songs sounded better in stereo.

All this talk about the mono Peppers has got mw thinking 'bout the mono White Album. Ive got a 2012 stereo version which im happy with. Space is an issue, im running out of it and selection choice is an issue though id love to hear both Peppers and WA on mono one day.

Everything i have up to Revolver is in mono then stereo after that. And i like it.

Stereo. It was mixed for stereo originally. It's far more dynamic than the mono, as well.

Previous to this album, the mono mix was the one that was slaved over. But starting with The Beatles (White Album), stereo became the main release format. It wasn't even released at all in mono in the US. The stereo was the go-to release.

Yes, there are some different mixes with the mono, and there are a few songs which benefit from the coherent presentation of the mono. But the brilliant "I've got blisters on my fingers!!!" shout from Ringo is not in the mono version, and "Revolution No.9" is simply a fold-down from the stereo on the mono release.

I have an original UK stereo top loader, and it's so much more dynamic. It has so much more presence than the mono. I have heard a UK top loader mono, a red vinyl Japanese mono, and the mono from the box. As good as it is, the stereo has much more life. If anyone has done a comparison of the original UK mono of Beatles For Sale with the original stereo, as mediocre the left/right mix can be, the stereo is far more alive. The mono is extremely compressed.

By 1968, the stereo mixing is far better. It's not as extreme left-right, although it's still there. They're still experimenting with stereo in some ways.

In any event, it was the stereo that George Martin intended for the public to hear, in the case of the White Album.

Worth having both. Warm Gun sounds better in mono over the stereo version I have. IGD is bad on it.

Well you still can find most of the 2014 mono reissues without having to buy the whole box. The White Album is no exception. Good luck trying find Pepper though.

Question - does the 2014 mono reissue contain the original mono mix?
