    Stereo overall.
And if you're a Ringo Starr fan you'd prefer stereo, since mono clips his blisters comment and speeds up Don't Pass Me By to an unintentionally comic level.

I was really blown away the first time I heard this new mono vinyl pressing. It would be hard to beat. It sounds so real and present.

I only have the 87' CD in stereo to compare it to.

Someone I know states that the 2014 mono mixes are actually new mixes from the master tapes that were reconstructed based on George Martin's notes.

    Some would say:

    Stereo is too wide
    Mono is too narrow

    Bring on a remix! :edthumbs:

That's not true. 2014 mono vinyl box was cut from the original mono master tapes, all analog. Sounds absolutely beautiful!

Surprisingly, my preferences are entirely based on sides - Sides 1 and 3 sound best in mono, but sides 2 and 4 are gorgeous in stereo. I think I'm gonna make a little playlist combining the 2009 mono and 1987 stereo and make the perfect White Album.

It's the only album of theirs where I can say I like both mixes equally.

It's a tough one, mono is better for some tracks, but not all.. which makes sense when you think about it, since it was recorded during the transition from 4 to 8 recording tracks.. and I think (if memory serves me right) the more 'modern' / headphone-friendly stereo mixes were songs recorded on 8-tracks, whether it be Trident Studios or the Abbey Road 8-track towards the end of the sessions.

I like both. I don't like one over the other. I like the differences between them though. Just two different ways of hearing the same album.

If I had the chance I'd get the mono top loader, but either is a catch !!!!!

Turns out no.. the original mixes were used. EQ was applied based on GM's notes.
