Bee Gees released their debut Polydor and Atco LP almost fifty years ago. It's also been ten years since the last deluxe edition of Bee Gees' 1st. Ken Perry and Bill Inglot mastered the mono and stereo albums for CD and added bonus tracks on a second CD. Perry and Inglot likely added compression to all of the tracks, which makes a fully dynamic mono version still unavailable on CD. Their works tends to skew toward the bright side, as well.

What are you interested in buying in terms of 50th Anniversary Bee Gees' 1st product?

I'd love to see them celebrate the 50th anniversary of this album with a 'super-deluxe 3 CD edition.
Hey I can dream, can't I? With good mastering of course.

Wasn't there speed issues as well on the Rhino remasters of the early albums, or some of them?

box set mono stereo version sounds fine to me, it's not a spectacular recording to begin with.

I'd like to see a set of all of the bonus tracks for all of the reissues for those of us who have the original albums and don't want to buy them again.

I bought the 2disc CD versions of 1st and Horizontal when they came out, hard to believe that was now around ten years ago. Yikes!

I bought the 1967-68 cd box set but hadn't returned to vinyl yet at point - a reissue of LP box would be welcome.

The mono mixes (Horizontal & Idea) were originally mastered at faster pitch in the 60s, the 2 disc sets maintained that so to be
Historically accurate, I presume. Idea was the fastest, The Bee Gees sound like the Chipmunks on the mono tracks.

Pfft. Just grab the old 1992 Japan, you get good old fashion mastering and lyrics

Still enjoy the stunning sound in both mono and stereo of:

A 50th anniversary edition would be nice.
I'm happy with the box above.
The remastered sound and outakes on the above box are fine already. IMHO

The Kevin Gray vinyl mastering at RTI in 2007 is all the Bee Gees 1st I'll ever need.

I wish I'd gone for the vinyl then, I see it's very pricey now. I only skipped Idea because I already had the original Atco LP. It also had the weaker set of reissue bonus tracks.

I wonder if in 2067 to 2069 there will be a major musical celebration of these iconic albums and their 100th?

Or most everything other than Beatles, Stones, and Hendrix will be just about forgotten. Bee Gees 1st won't be the first album that comes to mind in 2067. But how much of this old junk will still get people talking? If all original listeners are dead, there might not be anyone who cares other than 4 or 5 acts.

    Sorry to be depressing.
