To many people Nirvana were the best band of the 90’s. However, there were many other bands that were very popular and made good music. I’ve listed many of the big guns in a poll. Choose your favourite one. Cheers

I went for Nirvana. They only released a handful of albums but they are all excellent. I also listen to them often without getting bored of their music.

I went with Oasis but could have just as easily gone with Blur, Supergrass, Green Day, or Radiohead. Or Nirvana or Pearl Jam, for that matter. R.E.M. released 5 albums ranging from very good to superb but they're already my band of the '80s, so sorry guys.

None of the above... The Black Crowes.
    IMHO, of course...

Of what's listed, I went with Pavement, but I could have gone with Guided By Voices, Built to Spill, Teeenage Fanclub, Sleater-Kinney and others ...

Stone Temple Pilots for me, but Alice in Chains are a close second.

I went with Alice In Chains. I listened to them a lot in the 90's. Probably more than anyone on that list.

Has to be Radiohead but a shout for the Super Furry Animals which for some reason are not on the list.

    Blur, Suede, or Pulp.

Saw all three live in LA. Really wonderful performers.

...also saw Oasis, which was the absolute worst concert I ever experienced.

From the list, R.E.M. Sheryl Crow also did very well at that time.

REM. Funny how many of the options on the poll I would consider for Worst band of the 90s.

Oasis released some good albums but yes they were terrible live :)

People have named some good ones that obviously can't be included in a limited poll, but of the ones listed I went with STP. There were some great bands listed but I feel STP grew and developed as a band more so than many of the others that I would've considered (Pearl Jam, AIC, Smashing Pumpkins). I always thought STP was a bit underrated even.

The Best Band Of The 90s: The Allman Brothers Band. No contest.
My "favourite" from the list: Pixies (I like some of their stuff - not a big fan).

If we're going purely on subjective opinion (as opposed to record sales and popularity), then for me, none of the above. The 90s to me were an incredibly weak and depressing decade for music, but bands like Lush, Stereolab, High Llamas, Saint Etienne, as well as Magnetic Fields and Divine Comedy, helped get me through it.

At the time, definitely Soundgarden or Faith No More (picked Soundgarden). Now I would have to say Porcupine Tree based on what I still listen to

I voted Faith No More - 2 good albums, and 1 great one in the 90s...plus some of The Real Thing spilled over from '89. But Pavement's excellent discography beautifully straddles the 90s ('92 - '99) so I could've easily voted for them. I guess Nine Inch Nails don't really count as a band...
