A lot of the comps I see use either 'Fly' era material or 'Marc On Wax' era material, but not both
And the first 2 have the exact same liner notes.
And all 3 have Truck On (Tyke).
That's not an essential T Rex track.
Can think of many tracks to replace it.

Absolutely. What Steve Took added to the mix was incalculable. The pre- Steve Took tracks on The Beginning Of Doves/Hard On Love attest to that.

The bonus stuff is great for the hard core fans. For everyone else there's a stripped down one disc version with just the album tracks. :)

Yeah, the Regal Zonophone/Fly era material had to be licensed from a different company.

Truck On (Tyke) was the last top 20 single before New York City. Fairly important I guess.

Teenage Fanclub managed to combine the best elements of T-Rex "2oth Century Boy"
(the intro riff) and The Carpenters "Rainy Days And Mondays" (the melody) with
some Badfinger, Crazy Horse and ELO moves to make their "Hang On" a winner.

I listened to the EW bonus disc last night with the working session and chatter between tracks. I think that disc is a stunner. I wish we had Slider outs in same quality, all I've heard (Slider outtakes) are not in the same quality.

Not sure I'm buying into the whole 'planned thing'
Was this said after the critics reviews?
Marc always read the pop papers of the day.
The only reason for putting it at #1 in his own top 10 was promotion.
Notice that the 'Truck Off' tour did not have the song in the setlist?
But Teenage Dream (which charted 1 position lower at #13) was played on that tour.
Why wasn't it called the 'Teenage Dream' tour?
Finally the December 14, 1973 'Lift Off With Ayshea' was probably already booked.
It was the only TV performance of the song.

I'm not buying the planned thing at all. It's just Bolan being defensive. :D
    And yup, self promotion. ^^

Interesting to see that he liked "Mind Games" a lot.

He played a pretty good version of No.8 - Marty Wilde's Endless Sleep - in 1977 on his Marc TV show in 1977.

Says a lot about the cork-screw haired one, that he puts his own album at the top, above that of his friend, Ringo. Says a lot that he put it in there at all

Of course, you are correct. I slipped up. But if you substitute the word 'single' for 'album', does it really change the meaning of what I said?

Wow, that's a blast from the past. Haven't thought about Ayshea Brough and her show in decades!

Was there a re-release of remastered The Slider from the BLNBOX on Edsel? As a single CD?

I found a Slider CD that came out in June 2015. Cat logue Edsel NINETY 26 but it is unavailable on Juno or Amazon (except at £30!). It's unlisted on discogs and if it really came out last year, why would it be unavailable already?

The Slider is meant to be on Edsel Classics, like Tanx – but is missing from Demon's website. I assume that this would be the Visconti remaster and hope this is coming out soon.

I just wrote to Demon: 'it can take up to 10 days for us to reposnd' (sic).

On the Visconti version of The Slider release.

    Demon (who own Edsel)

'Many thanks for contacting Demon Music Group.

Unfortunately, we have not been granted the rights to release this Edsel Classic version so this will no longer be released.

We will ensure it is pulled down from websites.

    Apologies for any inconvenience caused.'

Bummer. NB. I have heard the BLNBOX version and compared with the shm CD version of Slider. They are different, but I thought that they are similar high enough quality that one might be happy with either.
