    We consider only pop/rock singer-dancers.
This is not about tap dance, ballet, modern dance, etc.
We do not consider Gene Kelly's or Fred Astaire's dancing movies, musicals, etc.
For obvious reasons we do not consider here the "King of Rock and Roll" Elvis Presley either.

So, who is the best dancer among male Pop/Rock singer-dancers ever:
James Brown, Prince, Michael Jackson, ....?

    I've read that:
Post links to some video clips featuring James Brown, Prince, Michael Jackson, ... dancing

    Video: Best of James Brown

Video: Prince, Michael Jackson, James Brown dance compilation

Must see Video: Michael Jackson imitates James Brown

    P.S.
There is no need for the 'none of the above' option.

  3. Have to go with Michael if it's for the dancing only.

For me there is only one answer, the hardest working man in show business, Mr. James Brown. One moonwalk does not a dancer make.

Prince can definitely dance, but I don't know if I'd call him a dancer in the same way I'd say JB and MJ were - one of the things that's always made him so cool is the way he mixed that type of showmanship with the type of moves we expect from a rock singer.

  7. This is the direction I'm leaning in. Some of these guys might be technically better dancers and some can do those jerky unison moves that seem so popular these days, but none of 'em are as exciting to watch as the Godfather in his prime.

Oh, and: what, no Jagger or Iggy? :D

I give it to MJ, the link between JB and Bob Fosse.
Cos MJ is not just a dancer, he's a choreographer.

Jackie Wilson is my third choice.

Bez (and I'm not joking). Without him the Happy Mondays would not have been the great band that they were.

Michael Jackson is really the only justifiable answer. Guy was one of the greatest dancers to ever live, pop singer or otherwise.

The only one who's voted for Sammy so far, can't believe it.
When he was "Little" Sammy Davis Jr he was unbelievable!!

I would have to agree that of all those listed, Sammy Davis Jr. could do just about anything at all those others did, and probably better.

...But I voted for Prince---doesn't make a big deal about his moves, but they are always smooth as butter and letter-perfect every time, all the while nailing a lead vocal and then he rips out an astonishing lead solo without missing a beat, so he's not even putting his entire focus on the dancing. Extra points for still being alive.

You might be right but ...

Michael took a lot from James Brown. - James Brown was Michael Jackson's greatest inspiration.

    Michael said (from Wikipedia):

    James Brown

    Mick vs. Michael?

Give me a break, again. Mick cannot hold a candle to James Brown or Michael Jackson.
