Every fiber of his body was mobilized when Bowie recorded layer upon layer of vocals for Lou Reed's Satellite Of Love. Keeps building and building & soaring thru the air towards the end. Wish it went on forever and he'd put one of those on his own albums. Lou nods.

satellite's gone, way up to Mars

Jon Anderson. Whichever song you want. Not everyone's cup of tea, but no other voice moves me in quite the same way...

Phil Alvin... every time he opens his mouth; no matter if it's a churning soulful number, a white hot jump R&B, a dirty blues burner or a rollicking belt of rock n'roll his silky smooth burnished baritone sails through the air like swirls of cigarette smoke caught in a spot light in a darkened room or blasts a hole right through the roof. Brother Dave explained Joe Turner mentored Phil, took him under his wing and passed on the secrets that Phil used to develop his signature style. At a recent Phil and Dave show; Cherry Red and an encore of Please Please Please absolutely brought the house down. Burned it to the ground!

As nice as that is, I prefer the piano/vocal (only) version from the Capitol Years set (my intro to FS). Not a Sinatra expert, by any means, but I like the “bare bones” version much better.

Probably not my fave ever, but a great recording. No idea what I’d choose, but surprised no one appears to have mentioned “Won’t Get Fooled Again”, though I may have missed it from skimming rather quickly...

Superb vocal and listen to him holding the notes at the 3:20 mark and then the range at the end of the song.

I don't know about the best, but I really love David Coverdale's vocals on this song. Glenn Hughes does great, as well.

Deep Purple - Love Don't Mean a Thing.

All subjective of course. To me, it's not necessarily about actual "best", but the vocals that move you the most due to commitment, power, or just the "cool" factor.

Lennon - Anything from POB but especially "God", "Mother" or "Working Class Hero", and many from his Beatles years, but especially "A Day In The Life" and "Strawberry Fields Forever"

Rotten - Anything really from Bollocks. Unless you try to sing those songs yourself, you don't realize how important his voice was to the Pistols

Nilsson- Without You. Heard it last night for the first time in awhile, and it's breathtaking

Plant - "That's The Way" from Led Zeppelin III

Keith Richards - his vocal part from "Memory Motel" off Black and Blue. (Check out his version of "Sing Me Back Home" from the Toronto Tapes bootleg for more brilliance).

Neil Young - "Cortez The Killer". The whole track is so chill and laid back.

Plus many more from Lennon, McCartney, Neil Young etc etc etc.
