Thanks! If only I could think of something to post about... Update: Nope, still no luck... Update 2: I went into my profile and added some missing info and now success.
Supposedly during a FB live session of Nez signing his newly released paperback for Infinite Today ... Christian said they had in fact rehearsed "St Matthew" and it is very likely it'll make the final list. Also someone asked about FNB re-releases and a Ranch employee stated that Sony Legacy was working on it.
Re-releases? on CD? Sundazed is already doing the vinyl. Sorry to say I wouldn't trust any remasters these days.
Interesting that Sony may be working on FNB reissues. I would buy CD reissues of the First National Bands albums from the Sony/Legacy Label, but ONLY if there was verification that they were mastered from the Original Master Tapes (which I highly doubt, since it has been speculated for years that that the master tapes are lost). I already have purchased the previous CD issues of the FNB, so I have no need to re-buy them a third time unless they are mastered from the original master tapes this time around. Given that the Sundered reissues make NO mention of being sourced from the master tapes, the tapes must still be lost. Unless by miracle Sony found the tapes since they licensed the material to Sundazed, any Sony/Legacy release will be sourced from vinyl.
I'm wondering if the ranch hand was confused between Sun Dazed and Sony Legacy .. I'll msg Jodi from VR
I don't think this violates any forum rules, just want to give you guys a head's up in case you don't visit the "auction" forum... As I mentioned a while back, I'm slowly selling off my Monkees LPs. Here are a handful of them (varying degrees of rarity) currently on eBay: https://www.ebay.ca/sch/seeknom/m.html
Good point @D-rock. I never thought of that. VR may have just said "Sony Legacy" because they know that they are the company that hold/control the rights to these recordings. I'm sure that VR has been inundated over the years with questions about whether Nez is going to reissue these albums. This may just be their "standard, canned response" to any inquire like that (kind of a, hey, FYI, unfortunately Nez doesn't own the rights to these albums, so check with Sony, they are the ones who control it). It will be curious to see if you get a response/clarification from Video Ranch regarding that.
This is a great 27+ minute interview, but Nez drops a real bombshell circa 26:15: the FNB Redux has apparently recorded an album of new material.
Nope he's only talking about the live album recorded from their recent shows thats coming out soon. I wish they'd recorded new material but sadly I don't think they have and Mike is now rehearsing for his tour with Micky so the FNB won't be doing anything till later this year at the earliest.
I guess I misheard it. Chalk it up to wishful listening. Learning from the latest Andrew Sandoval interview on the Zilch podcast that there will be a Rhino-issued Micky & Mike show live album is more than adequate consolation.
Really enjoyed the latest episode of the Zilch podcast with the Andrew Sandoval interview. Getting me excited for The Monkees present tour!
Probably because it was only posthumously released as a Missing Link. Did they ever give live play to things that were originally "out takes" not released on their core albums or 45s?
Good point, he did do solo versions of many of his Monkees tracks that remained unreleased. And St. Matthew had enough of a country sound that it could have worked with FNB. While on the topic, what's with a girl calling herself Matthew?
