No Marx Bros? No Some Like It Hot? Was the cut-off date 1960 or something?

100 movies funnier than Woody's Love and Death? Not in my universe. :shake:

What is the basis for the ranking? IMO, there are too many problems with this list. As jojo said "No Buster Keaton"? Where are 'Planes, Trains, and Automobiles' , 'Repo Man', 'Eating Raoul' ,....

I'll second that one...how about "What's Up Doc" and the "Money Pit". IMO it's not a very good list.

Ghostbusters at #76 and Spinal Tap at #64 :shake:

And Shrek at number 3?? I can sit through the whole movie without laughing once. Fart jokes really aren't that funny in the context of an animated film.

And didn't 40-year-old-virgin only come out last year? IMO, a film needs to stand a little time before belonging in the top 30 movies of all time.

I'll third it! Planes Trains and Automobiles was the first one I looked for.

    Life of Brian?

    Chaplin?

    Marx Brothers?

    Laurel and Hardy?

It looks like the list was created by a 14 year old.

It's impossible to make a list without somebody not appreciating their favorite being left off, or somebody else's favorite being above theirs.

My only quibble is...were one to start at the beginning, and watch every one of these, just how much taste for comedy would one have by the time they reach the peak? Some of these would cease to be funny by then, affecting their position.

My suggestion - avoid lists at all costs, and find reasons to laugh often, all by yourself. If you get a chance to see a funny movie, try and see it in the company of others, so the infectiousness of laughter will spread to the betterment of all. And try not to empathize too much with the characters who experience misfortune: when I was young, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World was ruined for me because I felt too sorry for the weakest of the characters, and too angry at how Ethel Merman treated everybody!

...speaking of which - it's not even on the list...?!? :wtf:

This appears to have been assembled by folks under the age of 25. That's fine if the list is for people in that age group, but seriously underweights older movies or movies that are not of particular interest to younger viewers.

AS for the actual program, they interviewed ROb Reiner, Harold Ramis, the guy who died a few days ago. And some interesting comments were made.

For a second there, I thought that you were saying that Harold Ramis died. I just googled and did not see any obituaries, so to who are you referring?

#43 "What about Bob" & #31 "The Big Lebowski" are actually "funny" movies. Rushmore is a comedy?

They shouldn't put "series" in anything. "Police Academy" - the first one, yes. "Naked Gun" - the first one, yes.

They hit a lot of the great ones that are often missed, all in all.

"Bananas," "Three Amigos!" "Flirting with Disaster," - etc.

That list looks like a 19 year old listing the only 100 comedies they have seen.

I usually look at lists like this for an intellectual argument. I might not agree, but I generally give the creators a little respect for making me think.

This is the stupidest compilation I've ever seen in mainstream media.

Holy Grail and Big Lebowski get whomped by Legally Blonde and Meet the Fockers?

    No In-Laws?

    No Bringing Up Baby?

    No What's Up Doc?

    No freakin Marx Brothers???

    (still ranting)

Broadcast News is a comedy? One of the Top 100 ever?

I guess Pulp Fiction was a gritty crime drama.

American Graffiti is in my top 10 movies of all time. If you are going to label it superficially it as a comedy, how in the world could it be placed after shrek?

I'm convinced that this list was made to aggravate people in the same demographic as the people who use this website.

Agreed. Bravo used to be a fairly decent channel, and even their horror list had some merit. But this is drivel.

Without going to IMDB, the oldest movies look to be "The Nutty Professor" (UNLESS they mean Eddie Murphy and not Jerry Lewis), Dr. Strangelove or The Pink Panther (as long as they don't mean Steve Martin) - which is the least funny of the ones made while Peter Sellers was alive. But they didn't put that in a seires, a la the two police series.
