I hear ya. But even so, Mrs Zodiac would surely be understanding about your favorite band being in an art-house very limited engagement biopic. Positive thinking.

I'm thinking it's better to give some advance notice and then figure out how to work around it than to risk being caught sneaking out for it.

  12. I'm guessing that naming them would have cost the producers money and/or would have required releases or something. The BB Geeks know who they are, nobody else would care so why waste the money, is probably what they thought.

I suppose you are right. I would be upfront about it. I'm not that much of a scoundrel. But she won't be overly supporting or understanding, that much I can guarantee.

Yea, except that, as I mentioned, they're mentioned by name in the movie itself. ("I'd like you to meet Hal Blaine... and this is Carol Kaye..."). It's very clear in the movie who they are. I just wish they'd had their names included in the end credits as well.

    They should have been credited.

i think he's a good enough actor to pull it off. remember, geoffrey rush looked- if anything- even less like peter sellers than cusack does like brian and he made a tour-de-force of the role (AND a bunch of seller's roles, too, lol.). so there is hope. but yeah, it looks like dano nails it.

    cheers,

Sounds like you need some, you guessed it, Love & Mercy. :)

I'm fortunate, BW is touring with Rodriguez sp? this summer and he's a favorite of my wife's.

Thanks for posting, but just a heads up to everyone else: those reviews give away an awful lot, not just plot stuff that we would already know, but more specific stuff about the way the film unfolds, scenes, lines, etc.
I stopped reading and only skimmed after a point because it seemed to be spoiling the movie. YMMV.

Sorry about that. Been reading everything I can find and didn't really think about that.

Put it on her level. Think about something that means a lot to her that she would like to go do sometime, something that means a lot to her. And just simply say, 'this means a lot to me and I've been looking forward to seeing this film for quite some time'. And if that doesn't work... take a long lunch from work one day (with some paid time off). :)

If it was just a film featuring Cusack it could work. But the contrast is going to be really jarring. It's odd that they've gone to great effort (with make-up and wig) to get Dano to resemble Wilson, while they seem to have made no effort whatsoever to alter Cusack's appearance, not even bothering to change his hair color. Given the already-large difference between Brian Wilson's personality in the 60s and the 80s, it seems like it's going to come across as a film about two completely different people.
