    Great story. Thanks.

Wasn't Ain't That A kick In The Head featured in the Movie Ocean's 11? Is was almost like an early music video.

I often see these and the Legend series in the used racks, but they are usually club editions, so I leave them there. Am I making a mistake passing on the BMG Direct and Columbia House club editions? However when I do find a standard pressing I scoop it up. Great CDs.

I'd like to say thanks to Ron for introducing me to some truly amazing recordings via the Collector's Series. For the most part I was unfamiliar with the artist's catalogs prior to purchasing, and in particular picked up the Outisders, Prima, and Grand Funk discs on the recommendations of fellow music fans. I enjoyed each title immensely.

If anything, pick 'em up 'cause they are usually priced a bit lower 'cause of that reason. While I can't comment on 'sound" issues, you can always trade up when you find the desired pressing.

A number of mine are club editions and they don't sound any different to me. And really why would they, digital copy is a digital copy. It's not like the vinyl days when the record clubs cut their own versions.

Ron thanks for all your good work. And thanks for giving us insight on how you put the CDs together.

I wish you had a chance to do a Capitol Collectors Series CD on The Beatles.

That disc is a very good one if all you need is a single disc to cover the entire 1969-76 Capitol period.

For the 1972-76 period, I also recommend the cd of the 1976 album "Grand Funk Hits"...cd mastered by Wally Traugott.

    Not me ;) Just kidding.

Ron F., I wish you'd come around here more often. An engineer's stories and insights are always a pleasure.

Why not, I would have loved to see what Ron would have come up with. If his mix of Magical Misery Tour VHS version is any indication, it would have been great.

I was just kidding. Imagine a 1 disc set of those 45 mixes, mastered by Ron F.

Try to keep cool out there...you're not near those fires, are you? It's an unseasonably cool Iowa evening for the month of May...47 degrees and just after a rain.

Not near the fires. Still, hot for this time of year for us here...

Yep - pick that up and set the hi-fi to stun. I can only imgine what the brass at Capitol/EMI thought when they saw the initial release list and asked "What's a Esquerita?" Even better, the looks on the execs faces when they fired up the cd and got a look at the snaps inside the booklet must have been priceless - "the higher the hair, the closer to the deity of your choice" indeed. :righton:

I guess that is one of the rarer disc since it cost a bit more than most of the others.

Wish they could have a Bob Seger CCS, with HTF cuts like, 2+2=? (45 version), Lucifer, and other early classics in the mix!

Just curious. Was there ever a volume two of Peggy Lee by Mr. Furmanek?
Could it possibly have been issued under a different title than Capitol Collectors Series?

I own a handful of these titles; all of them sound great, especially on my Grados
