open player, clean lens with Camera cloth then attack machine and transport with can of compressed air. It saved me a £400 bill from Linn.

I tried cleaning the lens with metho on a cotton bud to no avail. I took the unit into so called Marantz specialists, they told me it was fixed and charged me $150. I took it home and it wasn't fixed. I went back and the ***** tried to tell me because the CD I took in was an old CD pressing, that was the problem. After arguing with the guy and telling him most CD's had the problem he tested in on another machine and sure enough it worked fine. Then the manager told me it must be the laser and wanted to charge me another $250. They refused to refund my money even though they didn't fix it.

I don't have a service manual, but if it isn't the laser as you say, I might try to take it to someone who does have a clue. I have no idea what the azimuth might be.

I guess but I have left it too late. I tried to get a refund via credit card and that wasn't successful.
