I have to disagree. I watched the first season on DVD, and while there were some very good skits, the humor wore thin very quickly. There's not much depth or bite to the comedy beyond the broadest stereotypes and schoolyard humor. I don't think this is in a league with IN LIVING COLOR, NBC-era SCTV, or good SNL. My disappointment might be a function of watching several episodes in a single viewing, rather than catching individual shows each week.
Myself, my wife and several of our friends and family are fans of the Chappelle Show. Several phrases have made it into regular conversation rotation: Konichiwa Bit*hes! Wu Tang! Does Wayne Brady have to choke a bit*h?!
The original poster's question is pretty clear. It states 'currently being produced'. Sense all the shows you listed aren't currently being produced how do they have any relevance being used as a comparison? To answer the thread specifically, this is a quality comedy show. The best comedy currently, sometimes yes sometimes not.
The show is on and off to me, but it's great when it's on. It's very simplistic and stupid, adolescent, but endearing. I can't even think of Rick James, Li'l John, or Wayne Brady without referencing the show.
