There must be more. And maybe some that even pre-date the Go Go Gophers?

Sometimes you could pick out a word or two from the father, but the mother seemed to understand him.

Do Snuffleupagus and The Great Gazoo count?

Great Gazoo, we assume, would be understood by any character that sees him. He just largely avoids being seen. I don't know enough about Snuffleupagus to comment.

Sure seems like Frank Jr. and the audience understand Stewie here:

Hmmm. I am very far out of my depth when it comes to Star Wars and comic books and the like, but this relationship seems like the prototype for Rocket & Groot.

Seth McFarlane has said Stewie can only be understood by Brian or understood by everyone depending on the plot of the episode.

Gotta go along with RayS regarding The Great Gazoo... Snuffleupagus, I think would be the same thing: I'd think he "could" be understood by everybody, but since it seems Big Bird was the only one who ever seen him, nobody else got the chance to communicate with him... Mr. Ed was mentioned upthread, but he too falls into that category, as he "could" be understood by everyone, *if* he chose to talk to them, but he only chose to talk to Wilbur. (Remember, he was Wilbur's "receptionist", and when he spoke on the phone, nobody "couldn't" understand him.)

Someone "everybody" could understand, except one person, was Arnold the pig on "Green Acres": It seems all of Hooterville could understand his grunts except Oliver Douglas.

Regarding Chewbacca: I think more than Han Solo could understand/talk with him: IIRC, in the cantina scene, before Luke and Ben are introduced to Han, Ben had spoken to Chewie off camera and Chewie informed him that he thought Han might be able to handle the job of transporting them.

I think it is a case that many people can understand the language that Wookies speak but aren't able to speak it themselves. Likewise, Wookies can likely understand many languages but can't speak the languages themselves.

Concerning characters that only one other person can understand:

In Dastardly And Muttley In Their Flying Machines, there was a character named Krunk who only another character (Zilly) could understand:

Fred and Lamont could understand Hoppy, unless he spoke in police jargon. Then Smitty had to translate.

No, plenty of "Star Wars" characters understand R2.

Han isn't the only one who understands Chewie, either...

    Helen Keller, until her breakthrough.

All the Peanuts kids can understand "Adult-talk". Just the audience can't.
