    Blue Train (MM)!!!! Yes, that's a great one. I'm not a hardware expert but synergy is the one philosophy I follow before all others.

    Hey Brian sorry I'm gonna hijack your thread again! Chris from Woodsong audio just sent me a picture of my finished 301 plinth. Looks amazing I think! These aren't the arms I'm using, I'll be using a SME 3012R and a Thomas Schick. [IMG]

    Another stunning mono record is Sonny Rollin's "Saxophone Colossus."

    So, someday, somebody is going to come over to your place, see your table and say, is Brian Gupton your cousin? Very dramatic!

    I feel the same. I seem to run across so many re issues of 60s rock and jazz albums and tons of used mono recordings.

    Mike;

    I had a quick look at your system. As good as the Vandy 1Cs are, you would definitely benefit from a large step up in speaker quality, just from my past experience. And sharing from my changes in the last couple of years, it has made the music much more enjoyable. I understand what you mean when you say that you only listen about ten hours a week, but they are not like some dairy product that goes bad in a short time ; ) You get to enjoy your system every single day that you come home from work, for the rest of your life. If life gets a little busy, it will still be there when you are ready to spin some vinyl.

    I say go for it! Of course it isn't my money to spend, so take that with a grain of salt : )

    Has your plinth arrived yet?

    Really looking forward to seeing it with your table and arms. The contrasting tones are really cool.

    Kinda hard to tell from the pics, but is it glossy or matte finish (looks glossy, but I've heard that Woodsong does amazing matte finishes)?

    The goldish streaks in it look amazing. One of the few times big and clunky looks fantastic. Good luck that is a great plinth!!!

    Not yet. It was supposed to have been shipped yesterday, so hopefully I'll get it before the weekend.

    I'm not sure what Chris would call it, but I'd say it's a semi-gloss. Here are some non studio shots that he sent me: [IMG] [IMG]

    Thanks very much! Yes these large plinthed tables certainly aren't sleek, but when they're finished to the level of Woodsong or Artisan Fidelity they're very beautiful, in a way that pictures can't quite convey.

    You need to make sure that you have a spotlight on your turntable when it is all complete, to highlight that beautiful finish every day!

    ...And speaking of Woodsong Audio, I got my 301 back from Chris today. It looks like it just came off the assembly line in '56. A completely new bearing of his own design with my original spindle.

    Looks awesome! What do you think of the new bearing? I'm thinking of him doing the same work to my 301.
