Loved Chaleur Humaine with a passion, and everything about the presentation from Christine & the Queens. I am not drawn in at all by this new 'male' image and her 'Chris' alter-ego which just seems like she's trying way too hard to make a statement for the sake of making a statement. Does anyone else feel the same? Hopefully the new album will be full of incredible music (her recent live set on BBC Radio 2 was fantastic a couple of days ago) but so far I haven't been able to enjoy the videos or 'feel' of the campaign...

I did think the new album needed a new thread.

Been obsessed with her for the past couple of weeks. My wife watches Better Things, and now I come to find they lifted the video for "Tilted", and performed it in last years' season finale.
Had no idea it was getting that kind of pop culture awareness...

Read the article @pghmusiclover quoted in post #5, that will explain it clearly.

Mine arrived today! Slightly strange package because the "exclusive alternate album covers" simply consist of the standard cover with a few different doodles over it. On one cover she's got vampire teeth, one the other devil horns. The cds come in pvc wallets and the whole thing is housed in a flimsy, numbered slipcase. These numbers go up to 10 000. Oh... and the posters. The posters are basically gatefold inserts with credits on the back.

Since I only paid 34€, it's OK but I would have expected something more lavish.

    4944.

The price is the key. If you get it for 34€ it's like 17€ per album plus the slipcase. Which is ok. But the lavish advertising on the hype sticker?

Dumb question but: Which version should we consider to be "the original"? Is the French variant what the band originally envisioned and the English just the concession? Because they fully know that you won't get especially far with French language in this english-centric world:evil:

Or was "Chris" written and conceived in English and the French lyrics are an acknowledgement of the band's roots?

The English edition has eleven, the French twelve songs. I'm pretty positive most people are going to hear this in English, that's the version I chose for my first aural encounter too.

How are Christine & The Queens live? And how do they perform their songs? English? French?

The fact that this set comes with two vinyl and two cd sets is actually pretty cool:edthumbs:

    She's French.
(I told them we've already got one )
No band does both for sales.
Not sure how it will be toured ?
My guess is more dancers than musicians.

My copy of the deluxe box shipped from the UK -- in the meantime, I am enjoying the stream on Spotify. Definitely a massive step forward for Christine!

I guess Kraftwerk didn't do "international versions" just because they love the English language!

Nice album! And I prefer the French version. Christine seems more at ease vocally. :righton:

I agree about the French version sounding better.

I'm just listening to the iTunes clips, which is the extra French song? And are the songs the same this time (apart from the language difference) or are some particular to the English or French versions, as happened with 'Chaleur Humaine'?

    "Bruce Est Dans Le Brouillard"

Haven't listened enough to both versions of "Chris" to answer your other question. "Le G" is ten seconds longer?! But having both versions is very nice.
