Opinions from searching here are mixed. The Great 28, Gold, The Definitive Collection has a lot of what I'd want although some tracks are stereo and I wish it was all mono. The Chess Box is expensive, I'm looking for something in the budget range. I guess some of his 60s hits might only be available in stereo on CD.
More tracks than Anthology/Gold including Little Marie and Run Rudolph Run which are omitted from Anthology/Gold.
Rocks omits the following tracks from the Great 28: Havana Moon I'm Talking About You Come On I Want To Be Your Driver Rocks adds these tracks that are not on the Great 28. No Money Down Run Rudolph Run Betty Jean Jaguar And Thunderbird Go-Go-Go You Never Can Tell Promised Land Dear Dad This also has a very nice booklet and as the name says contains uptempo tracks.

It doesn't bother me. It's an interesting listening experience hearing them in a different order sort of like attending a concert. This also has a few of the Mercury tracks on it.
Here is a link to another discussion that is now closed but worth a read. Chuck Berry : The Great Twenty Eight
I have been looking for these 2 locally. I saw The Ultimate Collection locally, but it was only one of the discs. Darryl
They originally released the discs individually but later after they were all released, packaged them together as a set.
What about the 5 Classics Albums collection on Real Gone Music? It's on Amazon for around $20. I think it's the first four albums. Does anyone know about sound quality, etc?
Grey market stuff, it's ok if it's the only way you get to hear the music but there's much better Chuck Berry music officially available. See PJ's link above.
I have the lp of great 28, i had to buy it twice as the first one was warped at the edge which made Maybelline skipe like hell... I must say i am really impressed with the lp, it sounds really great.
Short of the 16-disc Bear Family box, I'd go with The Chess Box. My one caveat is it's missing "I Want to Be Your Driver," which appears on just about every other Berry comp. However, the other comps I've heard don't sound as good.
This is the one. Costs only around £5, has all the essentials and sounds great. Unbeatable at the price.
Hmm, that one is missing "I Want to Be Your Driver" too. Maybe it doesn't appear on Berry comps as often as I thought.
I didn't notice that. It gets approval from me for including the magnificent 'Mad Lad', which as it's instrumental is very rarely included in comps. It's one of my favourite instrumentals by anybody.
