What was the last music CD you remember seeing for sale at Costco?

The last one I remember seeing was John Lennon Signature Box in 2010.

Agreed. They had to find a way to make room for all those aisles of dog food.

I haven't seen a CD at my Costco in many years. They barely have BluRay and DVD anymore. Still lots of books...

Costco in the UK dropped CD's and DVD's many years ago. I don't think I ever saw a blu-ray for sale.

So, does anyone remember the last CD or CDs they saw for sale at Costco? I know they dropped them, that is the whole concept behind this thread.

I purchased the Beatles' Capitol Boxes (1 and 2) from Costco, but couldn't pin it down to what year. It's definitely been a awhile.

I was just thinking the other day about the good ol' days when you could get the new Police remasters for $7.99 each. Can't remember the last new cd I saw there, but you could get that Baseball box set that came in a base there for a long time.

Haven’t seen any in a while. Last one I bought there was The Beatles - Love (cd/dvda combo).

Before Christmas my local Costco had the Garth Brooks box on CD.

The bunch I saw at the one nearest to me had a cardboard display of various Universal and associated labels, 2 disc comps. The "Gold" series among them. They haven't had any Cd's in a couple of years. I think they also stopped carrying DVD and Blu-ray right before last Christmas.

For Christmas of 2016, my local Costco had the Vinyl version of the Springsteen set that went with his auto biography. But no CD.

  17. This is it. I think the last, big music product they carried were the Pink Floyd Immersion boxes (the first wave, anyway). General retailers always hated regular CD albums because the margins were thin. They were always looking for an excuse to drop carrying CDs and when the market started shifting to digital, music was dropped by Costco.

They've quietly abandoned DVD and Blu-ray for the most part as well, though they were dropped only this past year.

    Yes!
That Springsteen Vinyl was the very last music I saw on sale at Costco.

I was both surprised, and sad.

There were only 5 or 6 copies of the vinyl left, in a skimpy meager plain promo cardboard bin, that probably held only 10 or 12 copies.

(Considering Costco’s amazing return policy, I wonder if any got returned.)

I bought the Pink Floyd Discovery box there. That was released in Sept 2011, but I’d say it was probably later in the year or 2012 when I actually bought it because I’m not that big of a PF fan.

I don’t specifically recall if I bought any CDs - or even saw any CDs - at Costco after that. It’s quite possible they had some cheesy comps there are that. Maybe even some of the Sony Essential series?

However I’m certain I bought some concert BD’s after that. And I definitely bought the Springsteen vinyl not long after it was released in Sept 2016.

Costco seems to have piles of ugly clothes laying on tables - but can't have a small section for DVD, CDs?

Big margin on those clothes, not so much on the media. Even the draw of having that product, to get people in the door isn't worth the real estate it took up.
Also I'm pretty sure that the location nearest to me had the Beatles American LP's box and the last thing I remember is the Springsteen auto-bio companion CD stocked next to the book and it being the only CD for sale. Didn't see the LP. So that's summer of 2016.

Last stuff I remember seeing was some 3-cd package sets that contained three albums by a particular classic rock artist. I seem to recall CCR, ZZ Top, and Billy Joel. And some Neil Diamond greatest hits.

  25. Beatles remasters is the last I remember, so 2009-2010ish.
