Just thought I would spread the word that Now Sounds is reissuing the first Cowsills LP FROM THE ORIGINAL MONO MASTERS in one week!

In addition to the mono single masters of "The Rain, The Park and Other Things" b/w "River Blue," we're also including both sides of their 3 pre-MGM Philips singles from tape sources as well! With a 24-page booklet!

See the attached link to get a peak at the original tape box for "The Rain, The Park."

    Track list:
The Rain, The Park And Other Things
    Pennies
    La Rue Du Soleil
    Thinkin' About The Other Side
    Dreams Of Linda
    River Blue
Getting Into That Sunny, Sunny Feelin' Again
That's My Time Of The Day
    Troubled Roses
    (Stop, Look) Is Anyone There?
How Can I Make You See
(Come Round Here) I’m The One You Need

    Bonus Tracks-
The Rain, The Park And Other Things (MONO 45)
    River Blue (MONO 45)
    Most Of All (MONO 45)
    Siamese Cat (MONO 45)
    Party Girl (MONO 45)

interesting to see this coming out. I wonder if a release such as this one can make any money in 2009...this is ten years past its due date IMHO.

Anyway, I'm thrilled to see this release as my 45 of Rain isn't all it could be.

Will this disc have a US distributor? Otherwise, it's pretty pricy.

Nice, the mono album is much better.

I always liked the Arthur Butler-mixed Mono "Rain" better than its Stereo counterpart..the drums are more up front!:righton:

Curious: Do the mono singles differ at all from the mono album tracks?

That's nice that the additional songs are not just the same album songs, there are some extra songs! I have always had a soft spot for this group.

Not that I know of-they're all basically one and the same.

  11. I'm won't buy this since I have the Razor & Tie issue and all of the bonus tracks too, but any Cowsills re-issue is a great thing to happen. This is a truly magical album.

Glad this exists and as a fan I'll probably wind up buying it. Isn't anyone ever going to stick the Cowsills' Italian-language single on one of the reissues? Its the only thing of theirs that you absolutely can't find....Apparently a unique song, not a translated hit.

  13. Do you have any information on this? I've never heard of it.

Cowsills mono single mixes vs. mono LP mixes

Actually, the single versions were on different tape reels, and sound a little different to my ears.

Interesting that the tape box has the title "Flower Girl" scratched out... I wonder if that was really a working title. Actually, that title makes more sense to me than "The Rain, the park and other things".

I want a copy of this. Is there any chance you can do reissues of all their work? I know some of it is available but I'd like to see someone put out the whole set with the necessary bonuses and great sound. This sounds like a good start.

I don't believe I have anything else on "Now Sounds". Anything else I might want?

Hi Reader. Our goal is to do all of the Cowsills albums with the relevant bonus tracks, from the original masters. (Unfortunately, we don't always get clearances for all of the tracks we request.)

Our releases come with 16-24 page booklets, rare photos, and thoroughly researched liner notes.

    Other releases you might like:
    The Cowsills "Captain Sad"

Anyone have the new reissue of the Mark Eric album? I have the previous reissue. Are the additional bonus tracks completist fodder or worth paying again for?

The Mark Eric deluxe edition comes with a 20-page booklet with a new track-by-track; tons of recently discovered photos (as apposed to the original edition which was a smaller folder book). The 8 extra tracks are great and include a sessions track that gives you a chance to hear how Mark worked in the studio from recently-discovered masters.

Does this mean we will see an official CD release of The Candy Kid, The Impossible Years and the single version of Hair in the future?
