Has anyone here listened to the Miles Davis - Milestones from this series yet? I'm asking because I've just been looking at this on Discogs and the labels say stereo, but this album was only recorded in mono at the time, with the later stereo versions being fake / rechannelled stereo.

Please can anyone tell if this us actually mono and the label is wrong, or is it fake stereo? I can't imagine that considering how good all these records have sounded.

My copy of Milestones is proper stereo.

I didn't know Milestones had been remixed into proper stereo relatively recently. I can imagine that sounding good.

The original recording was in stereo. If you look at the original album rear sleeve bottom right, it talks about advantages of the stereo recording.

The original album was never issued in stereo in 1958 and then there were 'electronically rechannelled' fake stereo versions in the 60s.

The first Columbia stereo records were released in September 1958, when Milestones was released. But if Milestones wasn't stereo on release it's very likely it was recorded in stereo, as stereo recording was widespread by late 1957. 30th street studios in NYC was one of the most advanced studios.

I really want to get the Grant Green album but I've found dealing with DeAgostini rather stressful and can't bring myself to do it!

There's a few I've bought on CD just to save the hassle and a bit of money. I might pick up Milestones on CD. The Columbia remasters tend to sound great and have excellent booklets.

I can confirm that Milestones plays 100% like an original stereo recording. Another great pressing, not by MPO, but whoever replaced them.

Just read this and the postman rang the bell with my delivery of Milestones. Ordered on 14th, delivered today 26tth, their delivery times have certainly improved recently.

    Nice.

So if there’s only 3 more issues left, what is everyone hoping for?

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Lee Morgan - Sidewinder.

Did they say they were stopping at 60? Very poor. I think The Sidewinder is a possibility. I predict a Jaco Pastorius with Drum Suite pressed on it...

I understood from their website that it was going to 100 issues. FAQ still says 100 on their dedicated website. I think it ran to 80 in Italy.

Originally planned for 80 in Italy they carried on to 100 (though 101 on Discogs, not sure if one is duplicated in the list).
    Discogs say 40 then 70 then 100

There has been no mention of only 60 in UK/Ireland.

Has anyone received a "real" Drum Suite yet? I emailed about my Pastorius version and they have replied that they are sending out the correct record.

I've just had an email from de-Ag about Drum Suite:

"Kindly note that a replacement for issue 51 has been done, please allow 7-14 working days. "

    I wait with baited breath!

I’d say that you have to request it, based on past experience.
