Posted @ facebook Deep Purple (Overseas) have announced that a series of concerts from the 70's, some of which have never been available before, will be released in a 10 part series over the next 2 years. The first of which is the final Mark 3 show from Paris 1975. This performance showcases Mark 3 Deep Purple at it's peak, with the band on fire for Ritchie Blackmore's final show. More details will be available in the next 2 weeks with additional tracks and bonus material on the cards...stay tuned for more information!
This is exciting news !!! However, the Paris show from 1975 is out already ... How about the complete 1975 show from Graz??? Wonder what else is in the pipeline ....
Hi The announcement says that some shows have never been available before. That's what excited me the most
I don't know about you my friends, but I'd like a separate release of the newly (and wonderfully) remixed 'In Concert 1972'
And I'd really like to hear the rehearsal take of 'Maybe I'm A Leo' from the same 'In Concert' show. I don't know if it's out at all (despite some say it's on the new 'Machine Head' vinyl edition) ...
Good news, but why the heck start the series with an already-available show?!??! Remixed? My copy sounds pretty good without any remixing... *Grumble, grumble*
Ten? And some of which have never been available before. Veeery interesting. Let's knock out the available one's: 01) Paris '75 02) Long Beach '76 03) Stockholm '70 04) Live in London '74 05) BBC 70-72 06) 07) 08) 09) 10) Others?
Aechen 1970 Denmark 1972 Tokyo 1975 and probably a few others It would be nice to have Graz 1975 separate. The majority of 'MK III Final Concerts' performances were taken from that concert. PS: Inglewood '68 doesn't count since isn't from 70s
You are right, but I corrected my list. 01) Paris '75 02) Long Beach '76 03) Stockholm '70 04) Live in London '74 05) BBC 70-72 06) Aechen 1970 07) Denmark 1972 08) Tokyo 1975 09) 10)
Thanks for updating the list I don't think BBC 1970-1972 will be re-issued yet again. Especially considering that "In Concert 1972" has just been released with the 'Machine Head 40th Anniversary' box. The 1970 concerts sound particularly poor. Wonder how much improvement can be made from those tapes. Do mulitracks exist from those concerts? It would be nice to have something from 'Fireball' tour
I really hope you are right. Maybe they won't though. (ie: For the fans who couldn't afford the box set).
Actually it would be cool provided that: 1- They include the MONO 1970 mix (not that "processed stereo" thing) and 2- The new 2012 mix of "In Concert 1972" I'd buy that in a second!
I hate the cover. Gimme good ole RPM/Purple Records style packaging with Simon Robinson booklets anyway!
Can't imagine that Aachen 1970 would be included (bootleg quality sound), but titles mooted by the DPAS over the last few years include: BBC 1970 (Mono) Saarbrucken 1975 Graz 1975 and, could the (delayed) Complete "Made In Japan" 6 CD box be a part of this release?
From Simon@DPAS All good things must come to an end, and the archive series of Deep Purple titles released in the past through Purple Records and the Sonic Zoom collection will disappear over the next few months. As a recent announcement from DPO has explained, they will resurface in new editions on a German label, starting with Paris 1975. I’ll not be involved in that work. As you know I spent many years building this small but core catalogue up (starting back in RPM days) with the help of many fans, dedicated studio folk and of course the original manager and it was mostly a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone who had kind words to say about the releases over the years, and helped in any way on them.
Not really complaining, but Sonic Zoom never really lived up to its full potential. Some great "unofficial" live recordings should have been released after all this time.
Sounds like there is some potential here, but as others have said, this Paris show is already available. Hope something truly unreleased surfaces.
Is it just the end of Sonic Zoom or the entire Purple Records? That would suck. I'm a huge fan of Simon Robinson archive releases and his booklets.
