I found this DVD on ebay and bought it. It is from the last tour Elvis did in 1977. The DVD contains two shows; one from Rapid City that was aired on the television special in October 1977 and the other one from Omaha recorded a few days before the Rapid City concert.

The sound and picture quality on the DVD are very poor. What did I expect from a bootleg? To my knowledge, EPE has no intention of releasing the television special on DVD or VHS. The disc will not play on either of my home DVD players, but plays fine on the computer.

Parts of the special are interesting (historically speaking), but some of it is painful to watch. He was obviously very sick at the time of the concerts. The surprising part is that his voice actually sounded very good on some of the songs. Most of the songs he sang from the 50's were done quick, almost throwing them away.

Bottom line... this isn't the Elvis I want to remember.

I understand that James Burton plays "Johnny B Goode" with the guitar behind his head on one of these shows. Amazing.
