Hi all. I feel I should know this like the back of my hand, but having returned to vinyl after a looong hiatus, I'm puzzled as to what the little subweight on my S-arm is for? I haven'nt installed it yet. Playing Lps without it. The manual says for heavy carts but I'm not sure what that means?? All help gladly accepted................then I'll crawl away under a bush and pretend this didn't happen.:shh: Thanks.

The manual of your table/arm will likely have the threshold of cartridge weight for which it suggests you use the arm. Going from memory, on the Technics 1200MK2 for instance its >10g.

Also, if you can balance your cartridge without it, you don't need it.

Thanks so much. I have a Concorde cart/stylus and so far it's performing well without it. Reason I ask is because the manual isn't very clear and feel the little weight is going to waste stashed away.

I second the motion that at if you can balance your cart without it, keep the weight in the drawer.
