Before the same group of people mention again how they hate "Falling Skies" and never watch it anymore, I'll say I'm cautiously happy that the writers now know their exact, firm end point. Hopefully they will pace it well.

Bummer that they increased this season to 12 episodes, but the final season will only be 10 like the others

But I know ratings have been down this year, so I was prepared for this season to be the last.

I hate Falling Skies and I never watch it anymore. :)

Well, partly true - I do still watch, though with little enthusiasm. I was first drawn to it because, well, it was scifi plus I like Noah Wyle, having watched him in E.R. previously. However, seeing Spielberg's name in the credits wasn't a good sign, as his best days are way behind him.

So basically, the series is kind of dumb, full of implausible events, inconsistent characterizations, often has forced, soapy dialog, and for which the overarching narrative only works because the super technologically advanced aliens are dumb as dirt.

For me it hasn't quite reached the depths of Terra Nova or Under The Dome (both of which I'd dropped early), but it's close.

That's good news. I really like the show and look forward to having more episodes. On the other hand, 5 seasons is enough and they can bring the series to a close.

Man, this series is becoming a real stinker. Seriously, they're planning to blow up a bridge to stop the interstellar capable alien overlords?

I think I've worked it out, this is Hogan's Heroes without the intentional humour! And you gotta love the dialogue - Days of Our Lives is more realistic.

Yes and it left off where they ended but worst. It's going to be a rough season to watch but I guess I have to see it to the end. Thank God for DVR.

Yeah, reminded me of Sandra Bullock at the end of "Gravity". But overall I thought it
was a pretty good episode, and glad to see Mira Sorvino back.

Finally watched the season premiere. It was a little tedious to me. Given they have to wrap this thing up in 10 episodes, it seemed like a lot of the episode was just people running around in the dark.

The entire series has been that. Plus a lot of "oh, no! Character X has been taken over by aliens! Wait... Character X is now himself/herself again!" The same plot, over and over again... plus cheap cable effects. :sigh:

I will stick it out since I've been on board since the beginning. It has had it's moments but these first two episodes of season 5 are making me wonder how I stuck with it. The shaky camera is unbearable. And the plot has stalled.

I may watch the final episode just to see the trainwreck finally come to an end. Stupid show. What's fascinating is that you'll see great effects, mediocre effects, and horrible effects, sometimes three shots in a row. This is what happens with cheap shows shot in Vancouver (not that Vancouver crews do bad work).

It's unbelievable how awful the CGI is:

I've enjoyed FS for the whole run. Not sorry to see it concluding, but I've been entertained by it.
