    The new title has started popping up on international sites to order including Amazon France for Father John Misty's new album so it looks like it's time for a new thread. God's Favorite Customer has a tentative release date of June 1. It's still a little bit speculation so far, no official word yet from Sub Pop or Bella Union. But the Amazon France listing has it on Bella, and a single disc for the vinyl. That's obviously subject to change. But I can see a regular length LP from him since it was just a year since the lengthy Pure Comedy.

    We already have the new song Mr Tillman released in February. I will be eager to see the rest of the tracklist, I would think more info should be coming sooner than later. He's played that live quite a few times now. He has a lot of dates lined up this summer (I see him twice in the next month), mostly at festivals, so it will be interesting to see how he incorporates more new stuff into the set.

    This is starting to get reported in a lot of places now so more info as it comes out. Hopefully soon!

    It seems too soon for a new album, maybe because Pure Comedy felt like such an artistic statement.

    I almost agree with this. He could keep touring Pure Comedy if he wanted. There were 2 years between it and Honeybear. But it seems like this has been done for a while now. The first rumors had it coming out earlier in the spring. June 1 is technically still spring I guess. But it seems like he's ready to move on. I'm still waiting to heave Leaving LA live! :)

    I'm looking forward to hearing what this sounds like. I made a version of "Pure Comedy" that cut out 5 songs and still came to about 45 minutes (thanks mostly to "Leaving LA")

    I don't care about how soon it was from his most recent album! It's a new album! More amazing music to delve into;

    For comparison, Justin Timberlake has released four albums (if you consider 20/20 Part 1 and 2 as one full album) over the past 16 years, but CCR or Led Zeppelin were easily able to crank out 4 albums in the span of two! I'm of course one for quality over quantity but there becomes a point where the wait is insane.

    If an artist writes songs, why wait ?

    PURE COMEDY was basically album of the year for me, so I'll be excited to hear the new album, but have to say I'm underwhelmed by "Mr. Tillman."

    Maybe it's just a one-off like "Real Love Baby" and won't actually be on the album.

    Looks like it's starting to show up for preorder on iTunes so we have a tracklist and cover now. I would expect official announcements to be coming pretty soon.

    Pre order link. The US site says Sub Pop "may" have copies of the Loser edition if it sells out there. Not sure how limited so I think I'm going to go ahead and just preorder from there.

    Not sure what to make of the production on "Disappointing Diamonds" but both songs sound stellar

    If I preorder from subpop do they charge me today? Or when it ships?

    I like Just Dumb Enough to Try a lot. He played The Songwriter when I saw him in marfa last year. Looking forward to this, a more streamlined FJM after two more sprawling albums.

    I had a hard time getting into Pure Comedy because that song, while important to Josh, just weighs down the album. I usually skip that run of Birdie/LA/paper bag when I play it. I love everything else.

    Glad to see these more concise new songs. Some of the tracks on Pure Comedy had a touch of sprawl.

    I guess the whole thing was up on Apple Music for a while. But I agree. 3 is enough to hold me for now. I'll wait to listen to the whole thing...
