    7.3/10 in imdb.com is great

Marco Ferreri's greatest international success, "La Grande Bouffe" scandalized audiences when it was released in 1973. Audiences were shocked by its tale of four world-weary middle-aged men (superbly portrayed by Marcello Mastroianni, Ugo Tognazzi, Michel Piccoli and Philippe Noiret) who decide to gorge themselves to death in one final orgiastic weekend full of gourmet food, call girls and a hefty, lusty schoolteacher. This blackly humorous parable of modern society's collapse won the Cannes Film Festival's International Critics Award. The New York Times called it "vulgar vaudeville on an epic scale...a mordant, chilling, hilarious dirty movie." Nearly 30 years later, it continues to challenge audiences' sensibilities and test the limits of shockability.

I've seen this a few times on TV, it's a good film; however, i'm partial to european films of this era anyway. Have you seen La Bonne Annee? That's good too.

    Seems like a gem

No, I haven’t. It’s got 7.5/10 on the imdb.com, so it must be a good movie too. I’ll check it out when I can at my local DVD-rent.

I don't know if it classifies as a "cult" movie, but how about "Blame It On Rio"?

Anybody remember a made for tv movie from 1978 called "The Bermuda Depths"? I'd give anything to see this one again. Here's some info:

    http://imdb.com/title/tt0077223/

It seems to have haunted many a young person so I know I'm not alone!! I remember the giant turtle with the glowing eyes as well as the two kids. I just did a Google search and there's some kind of petition to get this out on DVD. I guess that qualifies it for cult film status!

"The 'Citizen Kane' of Alcoholic Clown Movies"...I usually loath Robin Williams, but he was fantastic in this. Look for stand-up comic Bruce "Baby Man" Baum as a rodeo clown.

  9. I love this movie. It was played on HBO a lot when I was a kid. I actually had a crush on Ringo because of it. *shrug*
    Giant fried eggs.

  10. Another vote for Barfly, Hairspray and They Live.
What about Dark Night of the Scarecrow? Could that be considered a cult movie? hmmm
    Good stuff.

Michael Caine's performance is good, as usual, but Demi Moore is a bit flat.

I've encountered a few people on line who have seen it, I keep checking every few months to see it has come to DVD. Maybe someday.

    Does Trainspotting fit in? *s*

I found very many movies on the wikipedia. Search for cult film and in the bottom of the side you will find a list of cult films, there you can find hundreds of them.

    Okay, I love:
    Head
    Lucas
    Baby Doll
    Duel
Futureworld (I think, it had Yul Brynner as a robot in a theme park setting)
    Dazed and Confused
Square Dance(well, I guess it hasn't developed a cult following, but it should)
    Rumblefish

I enjoyed and admired Tim Burton's ED WOOD. He could not have done a better job with the material.

THE ROAD WARRIOR is my favorite action film, but that's probably a mainstream selection, despite its inclusion in one of the Medved cult movie anthologies. The DVD went out of print a while back -- any news on a new version?
