Favorite MUSIC VIDEOS-creative, entertaining, innovative and witty, not just good songs

Not normally a fan, got to admit though, it's pure Dave.

 

I can't think of a favourite now but if someone wants to give a look, I've collected through recent years some videoclips I found interesting.

They were selected for their video content, not for the music (necessarily). Most are indie and "new" (not repertoire or classics).

 

The pop duo Pomplamoose (Nataly Dawn and Patreon CEO Jack Conte) have made a number of interesting videos. This one for a Pharrell mashup includes an explanation of the process - amazing results on a shoestring budget.

 

I had never heard of Walk Off The Earth, but I bought a ticket to one of their shows because I wanted to see one of the opening acts (Julia Nunes). I enjoyed WOTE's set, but before the encore I noticed two things. First, a guitar had been mounted in place, center stage. Second, loads of concertgoers were flocking toward the stage with their phones held up. They clearly knew what to expect even if I didn't.

The videography is nothing spectacular - a single, static shot - but it was certainly novel to see five people playing the same instrument.

 

Michel Gondry has directed a number of bizarre and fascinating videos - there's a double DVD of his videos. Here's an example: "Fell In Love With A Girl," by the White Stripes:

I noticed "Hot for Teacher" hasn't been mentioned yet so now I am.

 

Oh, and "Coming Up" by Paul McCartney.

 

God bless 'em - they've taken every opportunity since college, to meet every obstacle with the most imaginative results.

And it all started with the ethic of making sure the videos showed every intrument they're playing, at least once in every vid. Now they're branching out into artist development and music promotion with their own label, Nataly's solo career, and...who knew Patreon was gonna take off like that!
