74 posts in before the great Ray Manzarek is mentioned? Yes, yes, "Light My Fire", of course! "Chest Fever" was an excellent start though.

You can get those for next to nothing. And a good organ to boot! I'm just going to us the boss rt 20 Leslie processor, they sound pretty good at a small fraction of the cost

Of course, few systems can reproduce the bottom of the pipe organ, getting down below 20hz. Everyone ought to catch a live organ concert performed on a true pipe organ. In Gloucester, MA, Fisk Organ has its home. Occasionally they'll throw their doors open to show how they're made.

From the Canterbury world, there's this groovy tune:

At first you get the demonic, distorted organ from hell, but after a minute or so - a grooooooooovy, jaaaaaaaaazzzzzy Hammond soundscape takes over.

I played this song today for the first time in at least 35 years, prompted by the Beach Boys Shortnin' Bread discussion (The Happy Organ being my favourite take on that traditional). Glad to see it listed here.

Favorite organ song? Tough one. Duruflé, Dupré, Vierne...

I guess it's probably this one. "Litanies," by Jehan Alain.

john lennonist There ONCE was a NOTE, PURE and EASY...

"Honky Tonk" by Bill Doggett was the first to come to mind...

though upon reflection, the long version of Vanilla Fudge's "You Keep Me Hangin' On" will forever hold a great place in my heart as they were the first band I ever saw live and they did a fantastic performance of that song. :righton:

"Gimme Some Lovin'" is my first choice, all. day. long. My second choice being:

"Rinky Dink" - Dave "Baby" Cortez.
I can also use this in a "Best Cha-Cha-Cha" thread.
