Make sure to add the John Barleycorn title track as a bonus track.

    Mad Shadows...Mysterious Songs...

I love that track as well, but I was mixing two 'Perfect' sides, and that wonderful title track has a much different feel than the other five songs mentioned---a fine addition to the then fashionable British Folk-Rock thing FC had just made big in late 1969, and Tull and Zep and Traffic (amongst others) were dipping into in 1970... I love all of both these Traffic albums, but those two first sides, man, simply stunning stuff...

    cheers,

I believe it Bumpers, which someone point out to me very recently. I've had it for years and never noticed, probably because I have Scrapbook too.

Agree that the UK first album was their most distinctive and best work. Truly a fun album to listen to. However, I just really liked "40,000 Headmen" live....

Welcome to the Canteen, it must be said, is a pretty fair representation of what that version of the band sounded like live at the time in a fairly cavernous hall.

BTW - regarding the Traffic / Blind Faith special I came up on the fly yesterday - I had to make a few changes to get a nicer flow + now it runs smooth for 73 minutes

Had To Cry Today - Blind Faith
    Medicated Goo (Live)
    40.000 Headmen (Live)
    No Time To Live
    Freedom Rider
    Dear Mr. Fantasy
    Dealer
Hope I Never Find Me There
Somethings Got A Hold Of My Toe
    Roll Right Stones ( restored 13 : 46 minutes version )
    Evening Blue
Can't Find My Way Home - Blind Faith
    Hidden Treasure
    Rock & Roll Stew ( Parts 1 & 2 )

and as a Bonus for those who like their cd-'s filled to the brim

Feeling Alright ( Mono Single Version 4:04) with Dave Mason on Lead vocals

I never forget that song - it was playing in my 1966 VW beetle on the cassette recorder when I had my an accident with a complete turnover and it was still playing as I crawled out of the window cause the door was blocked..LOL..

I cannot remember which album that was from Dave Mason - Live (maybe) ?

the performance on On The Road is hypnotic. Remember the original US release was a single disc... I saw this band, and it was good... this album is a hidden gem.

Fav album: Low Spark of High Heeled Boys (not a wasted note on the whole LP). Barleycorn and S/T are also top notch and have no fluff.

Fav song: 40,000 Headmen and Dear Mr. Fantasy. They have so many great songs that I could answer this 10 different ways on 10 different days.

I first became a fan back in the late 70s when I picked up a vinyl compilation called Heavy Traffic out of the $3 cut-out bin. Loved them every since.

Traffic (s/t), the only album on which Mason actually fit in. Great tunes, Pearly Queen, Who Knows What Tomorrow May Bring (fav song), You Can All Join In, Feelin' Alright, No Time To Live, 40,000 Headmen. Amazing album.

But I love the first one, U.S. version, too.
