Iron Maiden – Maiden England '88 Label: Parlophone – 50999 973611 1 4 Format: 2 × Vinyl, Limited Edition, Picture Disc, Remastered, Gatefold Country: Europe Released: 2013
I've gradually been picking up the newish reissues of the studio albums from Fear of the Dark through The Final Frontier. I don't have the vinyl reissue of A Matter of Life and Death because I have the picture disc original. I initially intended to replace it but I played it last night and it sounds fine to me. I won't go out and start collecting picture discs but in this case at least, I'm perfectly satisfied with the sound quality.
Maiden England '88 - so far so good, I mean what a great concert. Definitely much better than Flight 666.
Regarding the NOTB reissue, the UK pressing is indeed better than the US. I got them both but returned the US. It was like a blanket over the speakers. Just muted and dull. The UK reissue sounds great. Note: I’ve never heard an original pressing, so I can only compare the reissues.
I ordered this version of 2014 reissue of Iron Maiden - The Number Of The Beast. Got also this version of Iron Maiden - The Number Of The Beast which seems to be original pressing.
Errrrrr.... "The Trooper" is from "Piece Of Mind". But given your excessive Maiden consumption during the last days, stuff like that can happen, no biggie
The should re-release Iron Maiden - Best Of The Beast one day at an affordable price. There's The Soundhouse Tapes in its entirety there. Who knows?
Fun to watch you go through the reissues. I only got a few of them, as I have some originals. I need to have my speakers tuned up (so to speak) and reading this makes me want to crank some Maiden. Do you have the debut? The 2014 is amazing. I actually think it sounds the best of all of them. Since these were apparently cut flat (as opposed to detailed mastering moves, like back in the day), they show (I think, in my limited understanding) Martin Birch's mixing style, which required some extra spice in mastering. The debut had a lower budget approach and ironically, comes off sounding very powerful. Go figure. I like the reissues of Killers and Number of the Beast but they still need some sweetening. The only other one I got is Somewhere in Time. I prefer the original, which slams. The reissue has decreasing volume as the inner grooves approach, and the same mid-range dullness that all the Birch albums seem to have, but nice bottom end that the original CD lacks. Very crankable. Since these are the only way to get un-futzed-with classic Maiden today new and readily available (I still see some of them in stores), I'm glad they exist.
Yes I have the debut, tomorrow gonna get TNOTB reissue. It's so much fun to revisit Maiden after all those years. Those singles reissues are a real treat.

Iron Maiden – Rock In Rio Label: Parlophone – 0190295851972 Format: 3 × Vinyl, Reissue, Remastered Country: Europe Released: 23 Jun 2017 Listening to it makes me realize how good Brave New World is. I remember it was a revelation to me back then.
I could not believe how good Brave New World was when it came out. I was really excited about having Bruce and Adrian back in the band. I had been a Maiden freak my whole life so this reunion was really cool. I was fortunate enough to score front row tickets for this tour, and it was an incredible show. The first time I saw Maiden was 1988 on the Seventh Son tour with the original Guns N Roses opening. That show was incredible as well, but to see them put on the same incredible show, showcasing incredible musicianship in 1999-2000 was beyond satisfying. I actually got to see the warm up tour they did called Ed Hunter tour? This would have been the tour right before Brave New World. Where they played only classics. For me, Maiden is the ultimate band.
Here we go again... Iron Maiden – The Number Of The Beast Label: Parlophone – 2564625240 Format: Reissue Country: Europe Released: 13 Oct 2014 I cannot crank it up now, but gonna do it tomorrow and compare to my original. So far o good.
