There have been some questionable choices in the this thread, but none reached the level of blasphemy until now!

You should be banned from the SHF for this post!

Nay - you should be beaten severely! And then beaten some more!

May be there is some theory that instrumental songs exist, but according to my simple knowledge the instrumental is not a song.

I don't consider those to be songs, they are more like opening sound pieces or something. So while I get how someone might not like them, and even feel they are the worst pieces on their respective albums, I don't think they are what the OP was driving at.

Ok, so put it on my three worst list. I was just trying to give the George tunes some company by expanding it to 5.

BTW, that is one of only two songs I learned to play on guitar with any authority. The other is "Can't Find My Way Home".

I sorta get choosing I Zimbra from Talking Heads Fear of Music. not a bad song, but what song is worse than it on the rest of the album? (It's a great album, along with Buildings my two favorite Heads albums.) Zimbra is kind of annoying. I even think it was intended to be.

By sheer coincidence I listened do Dancing with Mr. D this morning in the vehicle. Kind of silly, but the guitar work is good. I am so sick of Angie, though, that that is my least favorite track on GHS.

Also, never get the dislike for Blue Jay Way. The drums alone are awesome. And the song Magical Mystery Tour is one of my favorites, and a great opener to a great album. Ringo again is key, when he changes the beat in the last verse.

    Takes all kinds I guess.

My cassette of Stand Up by Jethro Tull opened with Nothing is Easy which makes more sense than A New Day Yesterday.

Ain't Got You... a dirge???? It's easily the most upbeat song on the record! I would think of Walk Like A Man or Valentine's Day (or several other songs on the record) as dirges before Ain't Got You.

  14. Even Steve Harris wasn't that keen on using Invaders as the opener. "...could have been replaced with something a bit better, only we didn’t have anything else to replace it with at the time. We had just enough time to do what we did, and that was it.”

"Runaway", the first song on XTC's "English Settlement". It's kind of dreary. Still a perfectly decent song, it's just that all the other ones are better.

I guess if you go by the dictionary definition, a "song" needs vocals - which "Flying" has, but that's a different debate.

I'd argue the "dictionary definition" has been rendered meaningless in the case of instrumentals. They're commonly viewed as songs and arguments to the contrary seem pedantic at best...

Wonder if he led off with it because it had been popularized in the Rodney Dangerfield movie of the same title and Rodney was really hot at that time

"Easy Money" the movie: released August 19, 1983.

"Innocent Man" album: released August 8, 1983.

So no need to wonder - the answer is "no"! :)

IMO, Outlaw Pete is great. Can't say much for his other output the past 15 years.
