    I once came across a "Sporting News" article from 1930 that denounced baseball on the radio. It said real fans go to the ballpark to see what happened with their own eyes, not somebody else's.

    That's how they wound up with a subway series in St. Louis! (Did St. Louis even have a subway?)

    According to Wiki, they called it the trolley series. Although even that was a misnomer, as both teams shared the same stadium!

    Pete Gray, the one-armed outfielder, played for the St Louis Browns in 1945, the year after. From what I've read, a lot of his teammates didn't like him and thought he was there as an attendance draw and cost them games (although apparently the team had a much better record with him playing.
