Anyone who thinks this is bright can come over and hear it on my system. Absolutely no brightness whatsoever. The reel to reel tape I used to have had more treble than this.

:agree: This disc sounds just fine to me, much nicer than the Rhino disc.

I listened to mine last night and I think it sounds real good, we need more SACDs. I too, was surprised that the music was pretty good.

Anyone order this from tower.com? Interesting how the web site says Available March 30, but on amazon.com there is an amazon seller named "caiman" that has it listed for sale, supposedly in stock.

I pre-ordered this (for under $20) along with another item way back in November. Still hasn't shipped, but they've got my money.

I ended up buying it from MusicDirect for some big bucks.

"caiman" + "in stock" = not always the truth.

Is this officially out? I spotted it at a local store in MD last weekend. I've been debating about whether I want it or not.

tower.com finally shows this as "In Stock" so I sent them an email asking about the status of my order from last year that I was charged for but still hasn't shipped.

Well, tower responding by cancelling the order. They probably figured at the price I ordered it at they couldn't really make a profit.

Anyone compare this to the K2 Japan edition?

It sounds great to me, definitely some bite in the upper mids, but better instrument separation and slightly more low bass.

I hope MoFi decides to do more Foghat, Rock n Roll Outlaws would be nice, all depends on sales I would assume. I gather it wouldn't be an arm and a leg to license this stuff.

The RL vinyl beats this pretty handily imo. Flipping between the two reveals a boomy boosted sounding bass and sizzly top end. The vinyl also seems to feel more dynamic. Those opening drum beats in slow ride just dont kick your teeth in on this SACD, they just sound artificial and weak.

The MFSL is really good, but Edsel's Foghat remasters (twofers) are also good... at least better than the BGO's.

The MFSL is a hybrid disc so it has a regular CD layer you can play on any machine. The mastering is usually pretty close between the layers.
