Wireless from Canada flew under the radar. Great straight ahead rock. "Pay to Ride" is one of the better tracks from No Static released in 1980:
Yet another Canadian hard rock band, Fist released a handful of albums in the '80's. "Evil Cold" from Fleet Street(1981) is their best track. A Deep Purple/Whitesnake sound:
Ballet M.Ecanique – The Icecold Waters Of The Egocentric Calculation (1981). Very dark and pathetic – I loved the album. A post punk album from a short-lived band around danish singer Martin Hall.
Holocaust's The Nightcomers(1981) from the NWOBHM did receive some notice back in the day. Three tracks standout with "Death or Glory" being one of them:
There's more than one version around, and I'm pretty sure this is the earlier, better one - Virginia Astley, Love's a Lonely Place to Be:
Wang Chung's Dance Hall Days is definitely not forgotten. However, the Huang Chung version of the song, made for Arista before they moved to Geffen and re-recorded it, certainly is: Produced by Tim Friese-Green of Talk Talk (and many other synth pop productions) fame.
More Connells, this time from the second LP, again featuring that unique edgy guitar sound they had - Just Like Us:
Almost forgot about this one. Could be heard on KCRW in LA back in the 80's. Was almost impossible to find in the US. Les Enfants - Slip Away Irish band with hints of Aha. I have a well played copy of their lp, Touché. Always loved the cover image, with metallic gold printing. From what I can find, Les Enfants have never appeared on cd - even comps. Les Enfants - Slip Away 12" needledrop More info: Irish Rock Discography: Les Enfants Live performance with poor sound quality, but excellent performance: Les Enfants - Slipaway
Absolutely. I'd contact Edsel. Maybe we both should. Touché is a great 80's album unavailable on cd. The band was overlooked.
One of my favorites songs ever . Funny I thought this was Journey ( I did not have mtv , parents would not pay for cable ) It took me 3 years to finally find out who it was LOL . Has this ever been on any razor & tie cd by any chance ? Who destroyed the reissue of the debut with a DR5 , the shm japan cd or axe killer . I had silk+steel original but stupidly sold it many years ago , Not sure how those re-issues are for that one . The original japan cd sounds great , even better then the vinyl .
I probably already posted A Drop in the Gray earlier on this thread, so I now bring you "Say You Will" by Blanket of Secrecy:
