Looking to pick up a 2nd copy of this beauty. I have a chance to buy the mono version in Mint condition for $15. For those n the know....what is the opinion of the mono vs stereo?

I *just* picked up an original mono pressing a few days ago, in virtually unplayed condition. I can't compare it to the stereo version, but I can say that the mono pressing sounds fantastic. I love it.

I play it an average of 4 times a week.

    In a word...mono.

In more than one word...sorry to be that guy, but the forum search function could really help you out here.

I'm not the OP, but I have to say that some of the Sinatra threads here are monstrous. They're very informative, but it can take forever to read through them seeking an answer to one question. I'm not saying that's the case here, but...

That date for that price, I'd pay the $15 just to decide for myself.

Concerning the search function....used it ....rather than wade thru oceans of replies I decided to recklessly waste precious bandwith here on the glorious SHF's.

Think of how many Beatles threads we could have had.

mono. Had a nice copy, but someone I knew with a great rig ripped his, so I sold mine. No need for that anymore.

I wish one of these companies with some fancy equipment would get a mint mono copy and needledrop it to be released officially. If it sounded great and was done correctly, Id buy a copy.

I would love to have a mono pressing. I have an original lp and the first CD. Both sound great. One of my favorite records.

I have both mixes on LP, but haven't compared mixes in a while. I'd say get it (the mono).

Well then ...I'll just have to order it.

  16. They should have released a mono LP to go with the new stereo version. In this day and age I consider that a missed opportunity. Has anyone received their blue vinyl copies yet?

PS. I guess not considering it isn't released until Friday!

As with any album that one really enjoys and listens to repeatedly over the years, I think it is well worth owning both the mono and stereo versions.

  20. The mono hasn't been reissued since 1967, though, has it? In the UK we would have to import an original US mono LP and the cost would be prohibitive. Like the Ella Centenary reissues which aren't available in the UK, let alone mono versions, this is quite frustrating to say the least.

I should have said, "if possible"... :)

I always think it is a shame when companies reissue important albums, that they don't include both versions when possible.

I don't think there has ever been a modern reissue of a Sinatra Reprise album in mono.

If you say one word five times, does that make the answer 5:1 surround???... :)
