I suggest to start from the album Front By Front 1988.

This is the album who Introduced me to the fascinating world of EBM music, let the mesmerizing cold - robotic voice and the sounds to Wrap you and take you to a journey .

The First track from the album : Until Death ( Us Do Part)

    Enjoy :)

C'mon Noomi, there is some subtle warmness to 'Let's Feed' The Felines :D
Have you ever figured out what this song means?
The Romans feeding the lion's always come to mind, I may be off though

At the risk of losing all forum credibility for all time, I'm being transparent.

To hopefully balance this out, I'm catching The Orb next Sat without my teen daughter. There will likely be 69,700 LESS people at that show!

I just did a shootout of Front By Front between the original CD and the 1992 remaster. The remaster needs a gain reduction of around 3dB to level match.

The remaster overall is a little smoother/warmer/punchier - which I like, but the bigger bass hits have a touch less dynamic impact than the original. I'll probably go with the smoother 1992 as the one I'll play but TBH both versions are very good.

I agree , I like both cds , the original and the 1992 remastered , in terms of loudness the 1992 remastered is so far from the loud volume of lots of remastered cds ,you can listen to the remastered cd in a loud volume and the sound never become jarring , the original cd has an excellent sound and great DR.

Mega rare version with vocals of Front 242 song Work 242 !!
the original studio version is instrumental and this rare live version from 1989 London is amazing and includes powerful vocals from the start of the song and during the Chorus (2:04 M'
the vocals are so Clear, powerful and emotional.
I wish this version was included on Front by Front 92 remastered cd as a bonus track instead the instrumental version ( also A bonus track)

you can find this version on the unofficial cd Various ‎– Technopolis Vol. IV 1992 Germany.
    Various - Technopolis Vol. IV

    such an amazing version!!

Lately I listened to my 1992 remastered cds, I never gave them away after I got all the original cds.

When I arrived to this forum in my first post in this thread I think I was a bit harsh regarding the 1992 remastered cds, I think they sound really good! we can only wish that lots of remastered cds had a fantastic DR of 12 ,13 and 11, with these Front 242 remastered cds you can raize the volume and the music will never become unpleasant. Even the bonus tracks - Front 242 singles (remastered) sound excellent,

just an exsample , The Awesome song Masterhit (Part I - Masterblaster): the differences between this track in the single Masterhit 1987 and the remastered version as a bonus on remastered Official version are so small even when you listening with headphones, this track in the remastered version is just a bit louder than this track on Masterhit 1987 , Both tracks have 100 Peak levels , the remastered version has DR 12 , and Masterhit 1987 - DR 14. Even the Eq sounds to me very similar.
Masterhit (Part I - Masterblaster) sounds very enjoyable On both cds, the single from 1987 cd and on Official version 92 remastered.

Greg Calbi is the mastering engineer Behind the remastered Front 242 cds 1992
From Geography up to Front By Front( included) , I think he created a real nice remastered cds:thumbsup:
I can say today that I love both the original cds and the remastered cds and I can enjoy a lot from all of them.

One nice thing about 242's discography. You can't really go wrong with any of it. Even the new ones :)
Interesting though Noomi. My DADC Austria single for Masterhit looks like this-

    DR14 -0.07 dB -15.98 dB 7:12 01-Masterhit (Masterblaster)
    DR15 -1.58 dB -22.36 dB 4:37 02-Masterhit (Hypnomix)
    DR13 -3.08 dB -18.01 dB 7:04 03-Masterhit

    I also found out that
-Never stop! V 1.0 has DR 17 on the single cd!
on Front By Front Never stop! V 1.0 remastered has DR 14 which is wonderful,
there are mastering engineers who might think that reduce the DR of this track to 5 or 6 is a great idea LOL

Adjacent to this topic, in my college days, I bought a CD single of Headhunter or one of the singles Front 242 put out on Wax Trax in that era, and it was so hot it literally blew my woofer out of my speakers. Approach those with care!

Hot and dynamic! The twelve's are the same way. When I was doing transfers of them I had to turn the input on my adc way down to prevent clipping

Headhunter on the single is definitely loud , Headhunter V1.0 remastered is less louder on Front 242 remastered cd. Once when I played Headhunter single in a loud volume my nigborous came to ask why things are falling in my apartment, It must have happened when the loud snare and the machine drums repeated themselves with great force LOL
