Yeah, I think the original lyric is "Love was a magical thing...."

I am travelling at the moment so only just caught the Brits tribute on my iPad. I thought is was fantastic that they had Wham give the tribute to George, it came across as genuine and heartfelt.

A good thing it was of natural causes. It was what I expected the least.

I played Make It Big last night and thoroughly enjoyed it - even the filler!

I am going to play Songs From The Last Century this weekend. I haven't heard it in ages.
Finally George's family can now lay him to rest.

Is this really "natural causes" in a 53 year old man though? I'm afraid he paid the price for abusing his body, as so many artists before him have done and will continue to do, unfortunately - it just seems to come with the territory...

Again, RIP George - your pain is behind you now.

Looks like he suffered from a heart disease. Maybe this is why he felt so bad about himself and used drugs and smoked so much pot to compensate. It's how life can be. People go around and tell people that they will die from smoking. Then they get run over by a bus and die themselves.

Now he can have his funeral and friends and family can have closure. That is the best thing to come from todays news.

Of course you can die at 53 from natural causes.

There's no way to know of course, but if he hadn't been a smoker and regular drug user, the odds are much higher that he would've made it past 53. On the other hand, maybe he enjoyed his life more this way. No one can really say.

And maybe that's the life he chose to live (if true)
    It's a great talent lost.

Crack isn't good for the heart. I don't think he enjoyed his life very much. A sad story.

People who are saying that his death wasn't due to natural causes have absolutely no clue what they're talking about. My father died from a heart attack at 57 years old, and his younger brother at 44 (also a heart attack). Neither of them was drug user... They both drank alcohol, and certainly weren't the picture of "healthy living", but neither of them were unhealthy people, abusing their bodies.

I'm with you on your second point. Who knows what else we might have gotten from him. I sincerely doubt that well was anywhere near dry.

Actually, you can die much younger than 53 from heart conditions like that, even if you live a scrupulously clean life.

Again, I think his 2011 bout with near-fatal pneumonia probably has more to do with his death than any drug abuse. The drugs probably didn't help his condition any, but apparently he wasn't using anymore at the time of his death and probably hadn't been since 2011...

You may be right, I don't know enough about it to comment any further. I guess in the end, it doesn't really matter... Like many before him, and I'm sure many to follow, he was a gifted artist, who left us far too soon. Regardless of why, it's just sad.

About a year ago he was rumoured to be in a Swiss rehab, the most expensive in world.

The root cause is well-documented. He'd been an abuser for years. You don't get out of that without problems. Sometimes, as in George's case, they kill you. We don't know if he was still using or not. We can only speculate. I certainly hope you're right. Still, it doesn't matter. The damage was clearly already done.
