Is it a remake of the version from a few years ago?

I think Scarlett looks better without all the glam.

I loved the anime but this looks 'meh'. We'll see, though as I'll check it out.

The best bits of that trailer have all been lifted from the original anime. What's left is a fairly generic Sci Fi shooter. I imagine that the philosophy of the original will be dropped in favour of by the numbers action scenes.

scarlett johannsen should do a movie worthy of talents as an actress now that she has done so many movies worthy of her talents as an action star.

kind of like emily blunt doing 'edge of tomorrow" then 'sicario' then 'girl on the train".

Looks interesting. I keep hearing anime fans praise Ghost In The Shell, this will give me an opportunity to experience the story without the terrible animation.

Does this have anything in common with the original animated film from the 90's?
    Or is it a continuation?
Doesn't look nearly as phantasmagorical as the original, which completely blew me away when I saw it in the theater.
If you ever get a chance to see the original in a theater, don't hesitate. Change your plans if you have to. Go.
And I'm not a comic book, er, graphic novel fan.

  14. Wow great work. I loved the anime and seeing a live action version of the film looks promising. Glad they didnt cheese it up and ruin it from what I saw in the trailer (appears much better than how Aeon Flux turned out). It also seems they put to film some of the motifs/scenes in the original anime. Looks like they are also staying true to the original plot. Really, of all the remakes lately, this looks great! Also diggin the dubbed out remix of Enjoy the Silence soundtrack

Correct me if I'm wrong as it's been many years since I saw the anime, but didn't the main character operate in the nude? If I'm correct, I think that should have been incorporated into the live action movie :D

I think that is a factor with many live-action movies based on anime/animation. As an example, many people disliked Dragonball Evolution but I did enjoy it despite being a fan of the anime. I went into the movie not expecting the anime and thus I had no problem with the alterations from the anime (and I liked that they made Bulma useful in a fight). I just enjoyed it as a movie.

In the same way, I'm going to see this movie with the same mindset. I will just enjoy the movie for itself.

Although there was some nudity in the Ghost In The Shell (the anime movie) the Major didn't operate in the nude for the most part (she usually wore stealth gear like that touched on in the trailer or wore non-standard police gear).

The Super Bowl ad, cost is $5 million for 30 seconds, waste of $$ imo.

 Do you mean to imply that Johansson has had her breasts augmented? Why would you think that? Her breasts have always been on the larger side.

    Here she is at 16.

Based on "Under the skin" and most recent pics, one would think her breasts were reduced. The Ghost in the shell sequences probably feature CGI breasts or even prostethics (eg Angelina Jolie in "Lara Croft:Tomb Raider")

Maybe. I was mostly trying to find out what Malina's minimalistic post was supposed to mean, since it made no sense to me.

Of course. And let's not forget that she's 32 y.o. I know several ladies whose breasts had to surrender to gravity past 30 y.o., like in that 2016 pic

    Those times are over

ah, by the way was this a "Ghost in the shell" thread? The director's résumé isn't one of the more exciting, but as a fan of the anime I'll sure watch this movie at the theater.
