Some of the sale cd's at Target.com include Target version of Egypt Station for $9, Latest Paul Simon and Rod Steward (Target Version), $9, and Prince's Piano & a Microphone for $7. Amazon may price match these, but of course they won't be able to match the Target exclusive versions.
Amazon's organized CD sales were always pathetic for the most part, even back in the day when CDs dominated the music market. They tend to drop prices on CDs in slow periods of the year.
I went to the Target site to look at their section, don't think i've ever done that, and it's mostly new releases of stuff i don't care to much about. And the prices of other stuff is on par with Amazon. Nothing extremely discounted. But, i got pooped out looking though it so didn't see it all. I'm gonna look through the flyer at the store if i get over there. But, i bet most of it is stuff i don't care about. Thanks for the tip though. Interesting wrinkle in pricing rjaphael. Phantom, you statement is exactly what i ment. You echoed my sentiments much better than i said it.
I always look at the Target vinyl for exactly ONE reason: Returns When people order vinyl online and then return to the store, the vinyl usually just gets priced at a large discount and winds up out on the floor. Last week I got vinyl copies of the new Julia Holter album, new Marianne Faithful, and the Pink Floyd A Foot in the Door comp, all for half price. I've picked up other odds and ends over the last year too. None of those are normally stocked so they usually stick out like a sore thumb. They also had an import copy of an older Kylie Minogue album there and some copies of Foo Fighters Comcrete and Gold marked down to some pretty great prices but I didn't bite on them. Anyway, worth your time if you are gonna be there anyway. (Sorry to derail the thread)
Thanks, i think it's related. Good to compare Amazon and Target and ? to see which is a good deal or even who has what. I mostly buy my cd's and dvd's at Amazon online. But i go weekly to Aomeba Records to search out stuff. And i'd rather give them my money. Discogs sometimes, for 45s mostly, but almost exclusively Amazon if online. Just easy.
Speaking of Target, it appears that Amazon is matching all of Target's discounted CD prices from this week at the moment. I noticed the Happy Xmas album by Eric Clapton for $8.49.
